So this really, really well connected source of yours, is it the same one you were using last summer? Because from what I remember, they weren't that great.

He was utterly dreadful for half of the season. If his general performances and that record is deemed a 'success' then so be it. Im happy with Kavanaghs improvement but he has a long way to go until he can be deemed a success - he is no where near other successful striker signings like Wyke and Cook from this 'era'.

At best he looks a promising signing IMO.

I had it in my head he was on around £6k a week, which I kinda understand given his resume. £9k is a massive amount for L2 and NL but I suppose it is £468k a season which all things considered, isnt going to break the bank for them given how wealthy their owners are. Its been a bad investment mind.

The lad they just bought had a wayward youth. Reformed character who has done well , they have turned out really well for us in the past?

True, we have had our fair share of thugs and criminals over the years. I dare say we could make a team of cons....murder, robbery, fraud, assault - you name it!!!

Hahah don’t really remember posting much other than the Wigan lad who turned out right. I am not here preaching this stuff as gospel, all I can say is that the source albeit an exaggerator is really well connected, maybe they’re telling them one thing and they’re building on it or maybe they’re making it up. Who knows… but given how close they are to the inner goings off a city il always have an ear open.

I was actually thinking about the 6 in 22 last season in L1 in comparison to Kavanagh's 3 in 28 in L2

Cue the excuses "Yeah but Kavanagh was playing left back or summat".

He's a very good prospect, at the very least. If Mellon had come in and got those figures, we'd be very excited indeed to sign him now

I mean, it does matter what position he was playing when considering how good he is at a particular position. Wingers are expected to score less than strikers.

Jordan Gabriel, a wing back we've been linked to previously has signed for Port Vale. Recently released by Blackpool, we've been linked once or twice over the last 2 or 3 windows.

A 1 in 4 striker at L2 level would not excite at all. We are L1 now...time to think like a L1 club.

Kav improved as the season progressed
He is still young and learning his trade
If he improves again next season he could be a decent asset at this level
I can not think of one young striker we have managed to bring on in recent times
    Mcburnie we never really saw
Jetta at county , they are talking £1million
Crazy money for league one or two
Striker’s are the most valued commodity, but this often means even the average ones are overpriced and from what I saw of Jata,he was definitely average

That's still it with Kav, it's promise. But by the same way we shouldn't at all be depending on him in L1, we need a striker or 2 in for my liking.

He's got a good return, easy to forget with the way he carries himself that he's only 21 years old and has started 50 odd L2 games so far in his career. Still some way to go but I think he needs a similar type to his style of play, but a guy who's been around the block a few times in the squad this season.

I think the next signing will be no one we've been linked to.

Someone in the comments section on the T&A article has said it is Joe Wright from Kilmarnock who is a centre back and won their POTY this season, looks like he is out of contract at them.

If he is to be the signing then he will most likely be signed to play in the middle of the back 3

Depends on your definition of a winger. Kavanagh for me was playing sometimes as a wide forward in a 3, not as a true winger.

Either way though, he'll still need to control a ball much better and improve most aspects even more rapidly than he is doing to make an impact in this division.
