Because unfortunately, some find that sort of thing funny. Obviously I don't know what was said but I can imagine it will have been along the lines of telling them that they're sh!t and to enjoy league 2 next season. Hardly the crime of the century.

It'll cost less than it would to close the roads around the ground yet everyone seems happy to fritter that money away.

Agree - I was at the front of the Main Stand - I thought they’d announced we were promoted so I assumed Walsall and Notts games were in our favour; cousin was in NW Corner and heard the scorer announced. It was all over the place - I apportion some of the blame to the announcer!

Well in the top tier of the Kop the announcements sound like someone in the 1950s trying to tune into Radio Luxembourg. So I didn't hear anything.

West Ham fined £120,000 for falling to control their fans homophobic chanting
What are they supposed to do , gag each fan as they enter the stadium
Just like every other club in the land, there is only so much they can do to legislate for idiotic behaviour

Did anything happen to Millwall when their fans invaded the pitch at Wembley.. you know the HOME of english football, our national stadium ? They confronted and goaded our players and manager! at the time.

A few arrests were made and Millwall manager at the time Neil Harris publicly apologised to City.. i think this is what saved them from a fine… we’ve done neither..

My worry about the pitch invasion was that the ref would abandon the game and have to replay it. That would have been a massive blow for the club and fans.

I am expecting a fine, but points deduction? I am keeping my fingers crossed. The ref was frightened as he was backing down the tunnel and waving the Fleetwood players to follow him before he blew his whistle so I guess his report will carry a lot of weight.
I just watched the Sarce video and he said that the manager and some players were refusing to continue to play. I didn’t see any Fleetwood platers being assaulted but it was utter chaos.

I also realise it was a highly charged emotional event and I personally don’t think that the club could have done much more. The announcer could have refrained from the announcement which heralded the second invasion. Not his fault either it’s his job, but we as a club should learn from that.

not sure how clearing the stadium would have worked. If the stewards can not keep idiots off the pitch I wouldn’t be putting money on them
Getting everyone out of the ground any time soon if the game hadn’t finished.

Anyone believing 200 stewards can keep 5,000+ fans off the pitch is deluded anyway!

Same goes for clearing the ground without the game finishing if they don't want to leave

Genuine question. Is it only the lower league teams that invade the pitch? I don't recall seeing Liverpool or Newcastle fans doing this after securing the title or clinching the last European spot.

I'm not saying it would have worked, but it must have gone through the minds of the officials, in the end, as I say, the ref did the right thing.

It's a bit tin pot, but it's also a prawn sandwich vs success starved fan story I guess.

Most prem big teams only sell around 50%of the seats to season ticket holders
Many of the seats go to day trippers from all over who are faux fans just like the 35000 Leeds fans that live in Bradford

The fact that some do believe it just shows the lack of intelligence in society in general.

What has that got to do with the point about stewards being outnumbered?
