I think we knew he would nearly always lose out in the head to head but most of the time, he would try to impede the defender rather than go for the ball and we would try and pick up the loose ball. Will this tactic work in L1?

I wouldn't hesitate taking him on loan, even with the possible recall clause.

Virtually every loan has this risk.

But still garbage for us! There's many players who have been good for us but garbage for other teams, it happens and has been dealt with yhe right way by the management.

Cook, for all his achievements, may not be the same on his return and he is 35. We need to plan L1 without him. Any contribution from Cook next year is welcome but we need better pragmatic.

So a month on tomorrow from that amazing afternoon
Hopefully we start to see some movement next week.
I am surprised we have heard nothing about Smallwood, Walker or Richards though.
Have these guys been tempted by the stupid wages on offer by some clubs in league 1
GA did say they have said no a lot
I am not overly excited about Power, hopefully injuries are behind him, we have brought in far too many sick notes over the years.

It's a bit quiet innit? Not a worry yet I worry about the age of the squad and potential injuries. We need some younger pacier players in the squad.

He is probably on a decent wage, so we will have to take that into account, but you would think that he might not be the same player on his return.
Do clubs have insurance that covers for this type of scenario.

Only thing for cook is with this sort of injury you normally lose some pace but he dosent have much of it to loose & he’s also well ahead of his return schedule which is credit to him so he’s doing everything right

Name me a young striker we have loaned in recent years that has been a success. I will wait.........my point still stands, we dont have a good track record ans whether that is recruiting the desired quality or developing, its a big fat ZERO.

Players are loaned for relatively short periods. They come to gain experience, take Melon for example he was brought here to help us gain promotion in January. He contributed in a small way but overall he w disappointed. Tayo came in for the same reason and he contributed a lot more. Both had an equal chance but only one got the most out of it. The host club is not responsible for player development but only to give players the chance to gain good experience

Nonsense. Experience is all part of the development cycle. A massive contradiction there Park.

Which is why are loaning clubs are paid development fees on future transfers.

We didn’t bring Melon in to develop him we brought him in to help us win promotion. If he had contributed more he would have gained more. Are you saying that if a player isn’t doing enough he should be persevered with so we can help out his parent club

I am saying nothing of the sort. But did Burnley send Mellon on loan to help us get promoted? Was that their remit?

Take your claret and amber glasses off and look at it from another clubs point of view.

We didnt send Bobby to BPA and Farsley to help them, or get him off the wage bill.

And that blows your theory out of the water...

Sporting Director Jon Walters said: “Nathan is a player of significant promise, and we are fully invested as a Club in managing his pathway as effectively as we can to ensure that he maximises his potential.

“Going out to play regular football is the logical next stage in Nathan’s development as a character and as a player.

“It is something that was always in our plan for him and this is the right opportunity at the right time.

“We wish him the very best of luck for his time with Walsall and are looking forward to watching him grow from the experience.”

Mellon was kept out of the team as GA preferred Kav.

Had Mellon played more I am confident we would have had a player who had a decent goal return. He only really had bit part minutes, which as a striker isn't enough to get going.

I reckon your sources are probably the most reliable ones we'll hear from all summer.
