As I say when you are walking the League and you think the guy who has got you in that position may be tempted to leave because he's ambitious owners do strange things.

There’s no harm in being classless for an evening ;) when some of their fans were claiming to be Champions in January? Some clowns on here said we were Champion's in April . They had to be “ advised” repeatedly. Patently fatalistic nonsense and so it proved .

He didn’t strangely Dave …It was largely Lowes goalscoring along with Jamille Matt getting Sanatogen injections A rookie first season manager isn’t worth a contract that long after just 20 games under his belt , no matter who was sniffing around imho.

"We certainly have moved the football club forward and I won't be swayed at all with that."

The Saddlers were impacted by the loss of teenager Nathan Lowe, who was recalled by his parent club Stoke City in January.

Lowe scored 18 times across his 30 appearances while on loan with the club and remained the club's top goal scorer despite only playing for half the season.

While Sadler felt the loss of playmakers in his squad post-January, however, he is adamant not to focus on the negatives.

"We are not victims, we are fighters so there will be no feeling sorry for myself or the group won't feel sorry for themselves," Sadler added.

"We've had loads of adversity and loads of hits and knocks and we've kept going forward.

"People didn't expect us to get to the final and we did that. Unfortunately, we didn't quite get over the line."

Football is a funny game. Depending on your agenda Sadler is either the biggest bottlejob in football or was less than a minute from being hailed a success. You will never see a finer margin. A deflected shot away from the very scenes we saw and enjoyed in Bradford. I'd rather celebrate our success than be smug over others failure, i've been on the other side and remember my lad in tears after the Millwall playoff final.

    A deflected shot?

Was it an OG or did Sarcevic touch it?

An interesting one is Nathan Lowe. Recalled by Stoke in January 2025. In the Stoke team and scored a goal on 18/1/2025. Then 9 more games without a goal and 5 more when he was an unused sub. Echo’s of Jake Wright. Wonderful spell with Swindon then……
What is clear is that Walsall totally failed to replace him and it seems as though the confidence of the team evaporated.

Honestly think I’d have to take a season off if we ever bottled a 12 point lead followed by bottling the playoffs

I bet you never proclaimed we'd easily beat Millwall, or were already in the championship. That's the difference between yourself and the few gobby Walsall supporters behind a screen. Like all clubs, those keyboard warriors are heard first, and they were the ones proclaiming the title and giving it large in December and January. They are the ones on the receiving end of stick from the rest of league two right now. I agree that the deflected shot was a sliding doors moment, but we could look at many situations where a different player or referee decision would have resulted in 0, 1 or 3 points better or worse off for every team. Don't think for one minute that we wouldn't be getting the same treatment had we failed. We had fans boasting about the big crowds, and giving it the big I am. Even now I've seen some of our fans mocking the size of the crowd at yesterday's game, as of size has anything to do with it. I'm glad we've gone up because we've had the p£ss taking out of us for long enough. I'm glad it's someone else's turn.

Usually I'd agree with you mate, but I struggle to give sympathy to the modern day football fan and don't expect it back from other fan bases. They had fans on social media mocking Cook when he did his ACL, then jumping on us after Swindon (don't think they had any room to talk on the bottling front). There was a lot of arrogance floating around at New Year time thinking the league was done and dusted. They also acted like Saddler was Pep when he signed the new deal, our fans would be the same and I doubt we'd have gotten much sympathy either.
