I think we are a much more attractive proposition to potential targets now than we have been for a long time. No need to be taking gambles at this stage imo.

 

Fully agree, no point in hoping something works out with lads who haven't played in ages.

 

Might be based on sod all, a guy on twitter is saying that Smallwood has signed his deal and it will be announced this week.

Guessing so? Trying to find it now, it was on the "for you" tab on twitter and i flicked way but i think he said for years. I wouldnt be surprised if we offered a 1 year with an option, but not a chance 2 years.

And realistically it will take him a while to get up to full match fitness. That's why in my view we need to bring in two L1 quality/ready forwards in this transfer window. We have to hit the ground running this season and not be playing catch up from early on.

 

Spot on. We do not have the latitude to try out players whose careers have stalled for one thing and another.

 

Weve had these types previously....Ismail was crap and a waste of money, Paul Taylor didnt end well either. Although we got a tune or 2 out of him I guess.

It's an opinion piece, rather than an actual link. I'm fairly certain we were linked to Barkhuizen the last time we were in L1? Name rings a bell anyway when he was at Morecambe. Played a lot of football in CH/L1 could be that L1 or above experience we need in the AM department that we are lacking at the minute.

 

Choice is probably to offer him two years or lose him. Given he's our POTY, has looked after himself this season fitness wise and we're considerably worse without him I think he'll get his two years. A settled midfield will really help, given that there's a good chance we'll start the season with three new centre backs.

 

Connor Ferguson (LB/LWB 21) released by Leeds. We were strongly linked with him last summer - think he was rated highly by Bielsa.

 

No issues from me offering a 2 year deal. Never injured, POTS. Age is just a number for now.

 

Not a lot of those Leeds releases look like they are ready for L1 football on the face of it. Ferguson looked like he did well in the U21 league, had a brief loan at Farsley this season but didn't have a next step. Would be an ask to climb from NLN to L1. Amari Miller feels like a name linked to us at some point too from memory? Winger they've just let go. He like Ferguson are 21/22 now and have a handful of games at mens level to their name. Worth a trial.

I remember Max McFadden being mentioned recently by some lads at work who are Leeds fans are watch the youth teams occasionally. He's an attacking mid and he's only 19, played 55 games for the Leeds youth sides and has 21 goal involvements, one every 178 mins which is a good return really. Reckon a team with an U21s take a punt on him.

 

Greg Abbott has finally been sacked by Carlisle. That's 2 of the 3 people who have been running the show now sacked in the last week or so, their lot seem to be thinking the 3rd man, chief exec will be next.

 

We need to be going for someone having their second loan in the football league like Adaramola. Can never be sure they'll be successful but if they have the right mentality and learnt from the first loan then there's a better chance they'll do well.

 

Can't see him getting another role that high at a football league club. He's had multiple positions both here and at Carlisle and from the outside looking in, has been pretty terrible at them all.
