Why have Pointon/Lapslie been excluded from the 7, not good enough in your opinion?

 

Their season has been over a for a few weeks so I would imagine we've been in discussions with him for a few weeks then once it was agreed with us as he wasn't a big part player there's no point having a player playing who's decided to leave as he won't want to risk an injury so it's a win win for everyone.

 

No Bobby is a wide left front 3 best, not middle . Yes Lapslie omitted but that isn’t enough even if we include him.

It all depends on formations GA wants but GOOD cover is essential for the reasons stated.

 

Khela I was thinking would be going on loan to another team higher up the leagues, as you said though it all depends on how we decide to play.
Given the players we have contracted I can’t see GA changing the style much.

 

Alexander has said in today's T and A he will be sticking with what brought success this season which to be fair is understandable. Gives your recruitment team a strategy to work with when planning transfers.

 

By higher up the leagues do you mean league 1, the league we are now in?
If (and it is an if) we wanted him again next season, I think we'd be in a pretty good position to get him.

 

Not for me Kev. In the system we play Bobby plays exactly the same role as Sarcevic, albeit sometimes in different sides.

If you mean just the two deeper midfielders then fair enough but we wouldn't need 7, I think we're almost covered in there now with maybe just a loanee to bump up the numbers.

 

That was my reaction too, another loan of Khela so I’d say another two in total . I get what you are saying re Bobby but he’s certainly not a midfielder in the strictest sense for me he’s too lightweight .

I wasn't a fan of switching to wing backs especially with non-specialist players like Halliday having to adapt, but it worked. Let's stick with it.

 

That's the position he plays in our system was my only point Kev so if he's in the squad then he's included in the numbers for that position.

Unless of course we're changing the system but it seems unlikely.

 

I hope not . I do think we need options to be flexible of course , but not putting defenders into midfield as make weights .

It started off as midfield personnel , hence the reference to how many midfielders we need in our ranks . Defenders aren’t included , likewise, I don’t include Bobby in the mix. He’s more a left of three at the front of 4-3-3. . It all depends on the “formation” .

 

But you included Sarcevic - who played on the right of a 3 pretty much every game in 2025.

At the moment we have Smallwood, Pattison and Power for the 2 deeper centre mid roles. We have Bobby, Sarcevic, Lapslie and Leigh for the more attacking roles. Can also include Wright.

Id say we need one more CM. Then possibly a yth for cover.

 

Leigh could possibly fulfil that CM role better than he could in a more attacking role. His best appearance in a city shirt so far was when he replaced Smallwood in the last game.

 

Interesting. Presume he's not doing this anymore.

The interviewer really needs to up his game. It's like he has a lists of questions and sticks to them, even though Power has answered them in his first few sentences. You then get him repeating himself numerous times. He should listen and adapt accordingly if this is a career he's pursuing.
