A better way to judge a player is to watch him and then form your opinion you made your mind up about him before he arrived. He has been part of a team with a decent defensive record this season and acquitted himself well until his stupidly at Doncaster. He has been a very good signing for us

Jamie Walker has been great for us until this season where he has been average. I was probably being unfair to him by saying his heart wasn’t in it this season.

His heart was in it in terms of effort. He always tried hard when he played. However, he was one of those that is/was on the edge of the first team and I believe show Alexander isn't the man manager some people believe him to be.

Regarding Romoney's release I wonder which direction his career will take. First time around looked quality for us but failed to make an impact at Peterborough. Dropped to non league at Dagenham, then having a massive opportunity to kick start his career again with us. However, he never really reached the consistent performances to establish himself. A very laid back player that seemed too casual at times. A shame as there is a good player inside there. Unfortunately like a lot of talented players he needs to realise his potential fully to enhance his career.

Started at Enfield, off to Huddersfield, a bunch of non-league loans (including Bradford Park Ave) to build him up, ends up doing really well at City first time round, Peterborough sign him, loan him back to non-league, then he ends up with us again.

I couldn't tell you where his career goes from here. A York or a Halifax or Harrogate? Or back down South somewhere?

Newly promoted Barnet maybe? Must have a shout going somewhere like that and doing quite well.

Crichlow wont be short of L2 offers. Swindon hold him in very high regard from his previous spell. He has a promotion on his CV and is a decent age. If he keen on remaining oop north, can definitely see a local team like Harrogate or York (if promoted) benefiting from him. If he fancies moving back closer his roots there is Barnet, Bromley, Colchester etc.

I wouldnt even rule out Sparky making a move. Knows the player, rated him highly, type of player to get them out of the NL.

 

I like him too. I think GA keeps him for his experience and attitude. At the Fleetwood match he was in front of where i sit and the whole game he was motivating the lads and helping out a bit like a coach. Moaning at the ref and all sorts. Like having a coach that can go down the touchline.

Also never let us down as a player too. Seems to be a consumate professional.

 

probably in the minority here too, but I thought Jay Benn was a good player. When Brad was out of form he cam in and did a job. Albeit a long time ago now.

Alexander's man management is supposed to be 50/50. Some players love him others don't. You can take out some who will have bad experiences just because they are released etc. But having heard podcasts and stuff it does seem positive.

However from a fan point of view, players dissapear never to be heard from again. Sanderson, Jay Benn, Mellon for a bit. I think if he doesn't like you you're done. Wouldn't be my way, but who am I to question. He got us promoted and i love him.

 

If with you on Jay Benn. Came in, did well, had a couple of quite games and then never to be seen again. Think he’d be a decent signing for a league 2 club.

 

It’s nothing to do with “managers liking“ a player. It’s the normal ebb and flow of players coming in and out of football clubs, some make the grade, some don’t. Considering he’s been released by Lincoln, who is it at Lincoln doesn’t “ like” him ? The fact they have released him as NOT GOOD ENOUGH for L1 suggest that GA, DS, CL and SG judgment is absolutely bang on? You can’t create a good football team in a new , higher , division based on sentimentality, which is precisely what you are doing .

I thought Benn looked decent too, especially going forward. I wouldn't think he'll struggle to get another decent club at league two level and with more regular football could be one of those that really develops.
