I don't think he is. I don't think it will be Carlisle either.

Haha, no idea really, just a gut feeling it's not either of the two I mentioned. I could see him possibly fancying York, especially if they manage to win the playoffs, and there was a rumour last week that the reason he wasn't in the squad for the last game was because he was signing for Fleetwood and there was some kind of pre agreement in place (although that does sound like bollocks to me).

Yep, it doesnt even make sense. Why would we care where he went after we'd released him. Not a chance that sort of agreement exists.

Will be interested to see the list, there are a few under contract that need moving on and I'll be honest I think there needs to be a real strengthening in the squad to ensure we don't find ourselves back in the basement league the following year.

There is hope, Stockport shows you what a well run club can do and they cut a number of players from their squad after the step up with some bold decision making and to our advantage in Sarcevic. Wrexham were always going to throw money at it, but Mansfield showed the way aswell.

Hasn't Walker just opened a footballing academy thing in Skipton? Depending on how hands on coaching it is, he might want to be fairly close by?

Bingley, I think. It's called Academy One. I'm not sure he opened it, but he's certainly on the coaching staff there.

I feel confident that Sharpe will make good choices. As you say with the step up, you need to be smart and leave sentiment at the side i think. Mansfield tried keeping everyone and really struggled in 2025 with a really old squad and most have been released last week. Stockport have done smart moves but they've also spent a lot of money this season, but got guys who slot into their system easily. That's an area we need to improve on i think, having guys who can slot into the team without breaking the dynamics down the spine of the team.

Take our 2 LCBs for example, both out of contract and a choice is to be made. But even if we keep both, Crichlow and Kelly aren't really similar players. Kelly is more a traditional CB, whereas Crichlow is the more modern day lower league CB who is comfier with his feet. Baldwin and Byrne were the two used RCBs, both very different in play and strengths. Smallwood doesn't have a natural replacement, we need to find someone who can share the load with him next season and not make the midfield change too drastically if he needs to drop out. You still want your variations in the attacking areas to change an attack plan, but for me I'd like to see the spine of the side have some defined plan so when we get an injury or suspension to a key player, we have the next man ready.

York a very good shout. Yeh forgot about them - depends on promo though. Youd think he will have a decent choice of options anyway.

Similar to Sarcevic and Stockport situation although they offered him terms. Decent resume and can do a L2 job still. Whoever gets him getting a decent player with a couple of years in the tank.

Im sure in a perfect world he will want to remain in the area, or close by.

I still maintain that money will motivate his decision more than the location. Its his last contract you would think.

I think he's very settled here, as are his kids, and I doubt be he'd want to uproot now unless he had to.

I had a few beers in the Devonshire Vaults in Skipton while watching the Cheltenham away game last October. The co-owner knows Jamie Walker though a mate. Spoke very highly of Jamie and also how difficult the contract situation with City had been for him last Summer as he loves being at City and being in the area.

If Jamie Walker is part of a Football school/training group near Bingley then he must be comfortable in the area or nearby and it wouldn't surprise me to see him end up at a club in the north of England. Either a top of the Conference side, like Oldham, Rochdale, York, etc or a League 2 side such as Harrogate, Tranmere, possibly end Salford etc.

All the best for what he does going forward.

Yes the family love the area, kids are settled at the schools etc. He's had 3 or 4 houses in the last few years within the Shipley/Baildon/Bingley region so he's found a spot he likes. Even though he moved from our street maybe 12/18 months back, until recently he was still playing snooker on a weds at the Avondale club in Shipley as my father in law saw him most Weds before they do the quiz.

These days you can get good money in NL really and he's turning 32 next month with a history of injuries. I reckon a Carlisle, York, Oldham, Rochdale type would probably offer him more money than say an Accy or Harrogate in L2 could and he wouldn't need to move.

Certainly appears so…. I think we all know , if we are determined to progress. Still do a job for someone in L2 .

Yeh the club tried to lowball him, while offering an olive branch of longer term security. Walker said no - and that is probably one of the reasons the club is releasing him. I also feel the club tried to shift him on in January....hence the Lapslie and Leigh signings.
