I also know Barnsley supporter who thinks Shep may be let go. He said they had another CB on loan at Port Vale, haven’t looked anything up about that, who had also impressed and he thought they’d only keep one of them.

 

Why will he be a Gent special? It's 'Boro where he has his connections.

 

If the rumours are true then it would be Smallwood/Campbell and Pattison/Smith. 4 players for 2 positions - that doesn't seem unreasonable.

Khela has returned to Brum and possibly wont be back and Oduor is off - so signing 2 DM/CM's doesnt scream to me that anyone else is leaving.

That leaves us with Pointon, Sarcevic, Lapslie and Leigh as the attacking options.

 

He would be a cracking signing. 26, has league 1 experience with Sunderland, L2 team of the season and 12 assists last term.

 

Grimsby forum seem to be worried about Hume and McEachran staying . No deals accepted as yet.

Do you fancy playing in front of 16000 - 22,000, week in week out in L1 with more wage or 6,000 in L2 ?

Sounds like a lot of L1 are already being linked with Ricardo Santos who has left Bolton. Their keeper will be chased too, Nathan Baxter. Good stopper in L1.

I only really know Stephen Humphrys. Not an out and out striker or a goalscorer but a decent forward all the same. 1 in 4 forward at L1 level.

Don't think Barnsley are that skint if there after Paudie. He won't be cheap I'd have thought and highly regarded at L1 level.
Did say earlier in this thread he's about the only player I'd like back (Plus Wells be that ain't happening) but I would think he'd be well out of our wage structure.

 

Regarding Hume, I'm not sold on him talking to Grimsby fans on another forum. Good offensively, but quite slow to get back and not the best defensively. Last time we got a wing/full back from the league 2 team of the year it was Mellor, I'm just not convinced he's good enough all round for what we need. I'd rather McEachran if we sign anyone from Grimsby. Our options are far higher now, so hopefully we won't be limiting ourselves, we should be able to get more talented loanees as well.

 

Looking at Barnsleys CB room, they already have 4 or 5 first team CBs not including Shepherd and a lad called Lopata who has been on loan in the SPL this season with Ross County. So them two come back and its a stacked CB slot. They are linked to Paudie too, so Shepherd might well be available i reckon.

Only ones from that list i've heard of are Humphrys and Tom Senior but just from FM. He's a young LB who probably isn't ready.

 

I don't think they will be that skint either. From the books posted, they are probably just as in the red as most football clubs are who spend a fair bit. Said earlier that they have 4 or 5 on the books and 2 lads coming back from loan spells, so they have enough CBs, but only 4 teams conceded more than them in L1 this season.

They'll want to bring in some better defenders with L1 experience to try correct that. I reckon Shep might be pushed down the order again, but it will be one of those deals that wont happen until well into pre-season when the Barnsley gaffer knows who he can bin off.

Surely we need to be looking at some bottom end champ players? Looking at decent league two players may prove to be an unsuccessful route.

 

Keiran Graham is a young forward. His dad is Richard Graham (Leeds and Oldham). Played with my lad when he was younger.
