Yeh I would want a traditional stadium with 4 stands. Do they still make them though. Guessing filling in the corners at the point of construction is cheaper.

Hmmmm that area is a bigger shithole than bd8.
Any new stadium would be at Odsal. If we don’t like that idea then we stay where we are.

Surely redeveloping the main stand so the two tier structure goes to the end, upgrading the TL Dallas and adding a second tier to Midland Road would be all the capacity we’d ever need (could that alone do 40k? way more than we’d need without a radical change in our place in the pecking order). Though I have to say I love the lopsided aesthetic of VP as it is but if we ever establish in the Championship (and pigs fly) it’ll need an expansion.

In any case, one day we’ll have to buy it bc this has been a longstanding issue.

Same response if it’s anything to do with sharing with egg chacers. It’s taken a year to get the grass growing without them making it like a swamp!

The difficulty is, how much would all of that cost? I can't imagine we could buy the stadium for less than £10m, on the basis of paying rent of circa £500k pa for the next 25 years. The cost of construction has rocketed, I would guess at needing £50m minimum to make those sort of changes. I just can't see anything like that happening sadly.

Wasn’t thinking too much of finances tbh though I know that’s important. It’d be bit by bit for sure. It’d take medium/long term setting money aside for the very purpose of buying the ground. Think we’d have to accept a few years of L1 mid table (or L2) mediocrity to allow for that to happen. It’s such a huge amount needed. Or Rupp/other owner would have to take a big personal hit and there’s probably regulations interfering with that. Idk.

Solution: Do a Luton, go up to the Prem, be utter canon fodder, repeat in the Championship. Money from even being in those leagues used to buy VP, fix its issues and have a massive ground in League One/Two :p

Can tell you aren't from round these parts m8. We've already got a world class ice rink for that - recently refurbished in 1979.

The cold hard facts are Valley Parade has reached its limitations in terms of capacity, even if by a miracle the council did give planning permission, the only place you can build is realistically is on the midland road and the cost per seat ratio would by astronomical to a point where you would never recoup your investment. Besides, around 24/25,000 is fine for our needs, getting nearer to capacity means you can have ticket costs higher due to demand. More capacity for corporate seems to be the way clubs are going these days.

Give over, it was nothing to do with the water being cold.
    (A rather splendid Seinfeld episode).
