Yup thats the spot. I remember my grandad telling me about a little kid stood on a crate with a toy train in his hands and arguing in CAPITAL letters with everyone around him.

    Sorry Kev :grinning:.

Bang to rights at an EARLY age. …Giggle ;)

You can take the man out of the Bradford End but you never take the Bradford End out of the man ?

So many happy memories of standing at the back of the Bradford End. Two games stick in the memory , scoring 3 goals at that end against Southend after being 0-2 down in the 68/69 promotion season. Then Bannister scoring an overhead kick against Barnsley in a 1-0 win. Happy days.

Yes remember both , Ronnie Brown header from the edge of the box , near post position, V Barnsley I think.
That Southend game you refer to was thinking about it just last week . Ingram?

I think the Southend game was before Ingram joined City. He played alongside Gilliver in the 70’s - a great combination.

I am sure he was leading scorer for a couple of seasons in the 70’s. I think he scored a hat- trick in a 3-3 draw with Stockport at VP in 76.

Yes, the 3-3 draw with Stockport produced two hat tricks, Gerry Ingram for City and Barney Daniels for Stockport.

I used to sit on the rails in the little cage over the exit tunnel to the right of the picture near the tea hut/players entrance.

My children didn’t star attending regularly until we moved back to Bradford. My eldest daughter got the bug in Cardiff and supported the blue birds. My son had gone with his Dad on the odd occasion when he was growing up.

Our daughter was killed whilst on holiday when she was 21 years old. Bradford City Club were very supportive during that time, invited us to the suites think it was a cup game. They also sent players to the funeral.

My son had two boys who are now 22 and 18 and are mad city fans home and away. My daughter in law is also a city fan ever since she was little. We took them with us when they were just 4/5 years and they loved it. Definitely getting them when they are young is a great idea and should continue. They don’t have to go all the time, just be happy when they do. My two grandsons cannot believe we have just been promoted although the eldest one remembers the 2013 promotion.

Of course in those days it was when you could change ends at half time , seems very strange looking back.

It was the same everywhere in those days , even Avenue , Doncaster, Halifax , Stockport .
No wonder there were so many arrests. Tough days those . Fans change ends at half time and meet in the middle …….It was nuts.

The Bradford End was always the choice of us young un's back in the day, wasn't it a night game ? I believe Southend were also promotion contenders, as you say 2 - 0 down at half time but came storming back to win 3 - 2, I believe John Hall and Tony Leighton grabbed a goal each I can't remember the other scorer maybe Charlie Rackstraw , I believe Tony Leighton and Dennis Atkins joined City when Paul "Pablo" Aimson went to Town in exchange ?.
The Banny goal will live long in the memory with time running out he took off and scored from a great overhead scissor kick with no time for Barnsley to get back in the game.

I think both players had a great start to that season scoring double figures 10 or so games into the new season, the game was one for both sets of fans to boast who was the best of the two, as you say both scoring hat tricks.

    How old is your daughter?

Mine's just turned five and been to a few games and wants to go to more next year.

We go to the BEAP Community thing before the game, there's a number of fairground/inflatable style games set up, indoor pitch for a kickabout, arts/crafts and the outside pitch downstairs which usually has a coach and sometimes injured/suspended players show up. Then we sit in the family stand with Billy's Coop (though this is tired, shall we say) and go there next with table football/kids darts and a few more books/colouring etc. It's not what my matchday used to be when my dad was still around and we'd be in the bars, but it makes a bit more of an event for her and she likes it and if that means she'll join me in supporting City then everyone's a winner. Oh, and food for during the game
