a keeper is only as good as what is in front of him , needless red cards and comedy defending don`t help him , strange subs and formations also play a part .

Exactly what I was going to post
Decent enough goalie, let down by the defenders in front of him over the past 5 or 6 games

His form plummeted after the playoff defeat and he's never recovered. Walker is the better keeper, although if promoted he should be relegated to back up.

Surely Hilton was signed as back up , we also have Zak Hadi
Doyle must be hanging up his gloves this summer

The point I was making is that we need a better keeper if we're in League One.

We don’t know how good these youngsters are or could be
All under contract, so I can not see us bringing in another. Unless someone leaves and even then it might only be a back up

Sam Walker is a good hand in L2. Dunno if you look to improve in L1 though? Especially as he's out of contract.

I like him, he occasionally has a brain fart like the positioning on Saturday, but more often than not he'll do the task in L2.

The most balanced I can be is to say he's improved a lot through the season.

He comes for more crosses than he used to and appears more confident.

The through balls worry me. That's where he seems hesitant or not really on the same wavelength as the defenders.

Sam Walker would be a decent keeper if he could command the OUTSIDE of his box, sweeping
up “ over the top stuff” . Like an extra centre back / sweeper if you like. He’s too hesitant in leaving his 6 yard box, never mind the pen area.

I dont think he is quick enough to do that. Even if he comes off his line it's in slow motion compared to modern keepers.

If we go up, we'd probably do ourselves a disservice if we didn't look into the market anyway. You'd like to think we at least kick the tyres on all positions and see if theres anything that might suit better in the market.

At least he's stopped punching ball with 2 hands when he could catch it,just needs to release ball quicker sometimes

I wouldn't be too confident about Hadi, he had a shocker of a loan at Liversedge and dropped after 3 games and sent back a couple of weeks later. He struggled massively being thrown into team in a relegation scrap and looked like a child in an adults match. If he does stay he needs loaned out straight away in the summer to play some adults football as his confidence must be shot to pieces so he needs to play games

He needs to be released if we are honest.

It was in the press a day or two ago that Donny have already been shot down in a bid to take him again next season as Chelsea want him in the Champ, they've already started putting feelers out it says.

I like the Wimbledon keeper, Goodman. He's 21 and has managed 21 clean sheets in all comps this season in L2. He's on the books at Palace too who have seen how we've helped Tayo and Banks in recent years. Maybe if we go up they see us as a good step up in the pyramid for the lad?

I think it will depend on how they rate the 2nd year scholar keeper George Lord. Looking at the u19 teams he's not been playing or on the bench for a while so i don't know if he's injured or if the 1st year scholar Jack Robinson is favoured ahead of him. If George isn't rated then they will probably release him and keep Zac Hadi as the 3rd choice keeper assuming Doyle retires.

Everyone seems to be forgetting about Joe Hilton.

I would expect the goalkeepers next season to be Walker and Hilton competing for the no 1 spot plus 1 other from Doyle, Hadi or Lord as the 3rd choice for numbers in training and to travel to matches as a back up just in case.

Sure Mr Doyle will retire BB….? I’d be surprised if not.
