Long week ahead

The best thing about next week is Smallwood will be back. Love him or hate him, we seem a lot smarter and more secure with him than without him. Just don’t let him take free kicks. Definitely feeling more confident about next Saturday than today.

 

Just so pleased it’s in our hands, would be so flat if we’d have required Walsall to lose at Crewe and us also win only for someone in the row behind to announce “ Walsall are 2-0 up at Crewe”. We’ve had a massive let off today let’s take advantage .

 

A week to recuperate I fear Sarcevic is less than 50% fit he is wincing after every run or tackle. He is definitely playing through the pain

 

Id be seriously tempted to start Lapslie ahead of him next week.

It's all I was bothered about. I didn't want the same scenario as last season where we'd be hammering someone at home but ultimately no prize at the end. I'm confident that we will batter Fleetwood. I know some might say it's a myth but I just cant see how Fleetwood could possibly have the motivation next week to do anything other than turn up and fulfil their obligation to complete a fixture. I just hope the fans give the team the party they deserve and not some muted begrudging credit for getting promoted.

 

I so hope you're right but atm I just don't share your confidence, in fact I'm nervously looking over my shoulder at Notts County thinking they could take advantage of two out of sorts teams who seem not to want the 3rd spot

 

Surely we wont lose to Fleetwood? Even a point would see off Notts County. Just hope we win though, obviously, in case Walsall regain their composure.

 

Yeah me too mate. A week for the team to focus and then put on a performance worthy of promotion winners in front of a packed out Valley Parade. What a way to end the season that'd be!!

 

I swear at the start of the season, GA answered a question after the summer window about DM depth. It was either a Raynor or Parker question, but GA said that we didn't need more midfield depth as Pattison can play DM if needed.

At the time I remember calling nonsense on his claim and I wasn't alone, but nonetheless Pattison has shown he is not at all the DM we need. Taking the running and tempo builds he has completely negates his best qualities and the midfield has had so many gaps without Smallwood.

Who he is?, i dunno without knowing the market. But maybe we didn't need a Khela and we instead needed a 2025 version of Ricky Ravenhill. Instead of Leigh and/or Lapslie, maybe we should have tried to find a 2025 version of Alan Connell to share the load? Rather than gambling that 21/22 year olds Kav and Mellon could fire us to L1?

 

Not even sure it was the beginning of the season was it?

I might be going mad, it's been a long year, but didn't we have McDonald and evans at some point as DM back up, and that the pattison comment was made going into January

 

We are going into the Fleetwood game with three of our first choice defenders missing. Chrichlow Byrne and Johnson looks likely which doesn’t fill me with confidence

 

Got to beat Fleetwood ,really would be agony watching Pete Wild doing his annoying fist pump to his fans after preventing us going up.

 

Much like when we played them earlier in the season and our back 3 was Halliday, Byrne and Richards.

 

playing to a packed stadium some of them playing for contracts I wouldn’t be so sure they won’t turn up in fact I fully expect a tight game

 

If you don't think too much about it we win. It's only when you think of the other scenarios you start to fell sick and i've got a week of this. Anyone who says they aren't thinking about this game all week isn't a proper football fan, its what we live for, putting up with years and years of abject shite for this chance in a lifetime scenario where you gain promotion in front of a full Valley Parade on the last day. I might not get to witness this play out like this again.
