my first was a Austin A35 van, which lasted all of a month , replaced with a morris 1000 reg 2004 F, should have kept it lol

 

Vauxhall Viva...drove it home, gearbox left it's mounting and spent 2 months driving round in 2nd gear, bliss!

My cousin who was a bank manager wangled me a loan to buy it.

 

Mine too was a Viva, paid £40 for it in about 1983. I remember going round a corner a changing gear from 2nd to 3rd and the gearstick came off in my hand.

My dad bought me a Mini Cooper, was 10 years old when I got it. Breaks failed on first day driving down from my first job at Webbs Poultry, around 1982.

First car in 1969 was a company Morris Minor , I had to hold in the gear sick in 3rd or it jumped out. No wonder MOTS were introduced.
It was replaced by a Mini which broke down in heavy rain due to water getting into the distributor cap.
The company cars were serviced by Aslings in Valley Parade where the mechanic Ronnie gave us all the City latest gossip.

 

I couldn't even drive when I was 10!

 

I had a 1989 Ford Orion Saloon. It had a manual choke on it for cold morning starts.

 

My first car was an Alfasud. I still remember the ad for it in the paper. "Alfasud ti. Eats XR3is for breakfast".
Not having learned my lesson my second car was an Alfasud too!

 

Growing up I was mates with lots of lads from Canterbury estate so my first car was a Ford Escort.

The following night it was a Vauxhall Cavalier.

Wednesday was usually a Ford Fiesta.

 

Here we are talking about first cars and I've just seen a blast from the past this lunchtime. While I was more into cars several mates were trying their best to kill themselves on Yamaha RD250s. Just see an old black one in Hunslet.
