The players will be well up for Donny but it is GA tinkering with poor subs that will cost us points. The points he has cost us just in last 2 games would have seen us virtually promoted

I'm still livid at what I saw yesterday.

We were fantastic until that substitution to take Khela off. Honestly we looked absolutely streets ahead of Chesterfield.

But I cannot get over the truly appalling game management from the players and management. Our inability to kill a game/slow it down/do the dark arts is incredible. There's enough experience to know better.

I cannot believe promotion will come down to whether we bottle it slightly less than Walsall. What a gigantic disappointment and wasted opportunity of silverware.

Don’t forget we brought in players who had promotion on their CV and knew how to manage these types of games:mad:

Should we miss out it won’t be this draw that cost us a point there at one of the better sides is ok. With the tough finish we are going through we should have had a nice cushion to fall back but poor results over Gillingham Accrington and Tranmere ensured we didn’t have that.
If it is our fate to miss the autos we can’t afford to mope about we need to go with a positive attitude because we would be the best of the rest.
We also need to clean up our discipline because lack of it has cost us points this season

We are toast if we end up in the play offs. The team in 7th will have a clear run in the play offs because whoever drops down with Notts and Wimbledon are on such bad form they can't suddenly turn it on to compete with a team that has been on a good run to snatch 7th place.

We are literally relyiing on Wallsall to continue to be crap at this stage.

Commented the same on another thread
Unfortunately these players with "promotion experience" and know how to get the job done :unsure:
Didn't bargain on having to take instruction from a manager who has obviously lost the plot
Protecting a slender lead with 6/7 defenders for 30 minutes (twice) is only going to end one way
Every fan could see what was coming yesterday and GA obliged
The players are good enough even without Cook and Smallwood to gain promotion
The big question is is the manager who directly cost us 5 points in the last two away matches
Crikey we don't half make it difficult for ourselves

Whilst you might be right if we go in with that attitude we will be. We are going to need a bit of strength of character

Looking at it another way,a win might see Donny promoted.

Unfortunately our defence which has got us to within grasp of promotion is failing us just at the wrong time. And we are playing at least on paper the best team in the league at the moment

Imagine us beating Donny vale drawing and Walsall dropping PTS. That would mean 3 teams go level on PTS for the last game

A Doncaster win would see them take an auto place even more pressure then.

Smallwood has a lot to answer for IMO. The red card at Swindon was absolutely criminal.

In that case (I do hope your correct by the way) we would have to fancy ourselves to finish top of the league with Doncaster at Crewe and Port Vale home to Gillingham.
If we beat Doncaster by the odd goal we'd be level on GD although they have scored more anything above would have us with a better GD, Port Vale would a point behind us with a worse GD that would be an amazing situation at home last home game remembering the 56 and knowing we only had to match Doncaster if they did win at Crewe.

The team that finishes in 7th will hardly have been on a good run though either. The only team I would want to avoid if we end up in playoffs is Notts Co.

GA will change formation for this game going 5-4-1 with the ambition of gaining a draw

I would be confident against them with or mid season team, The trouble at the moment is the confidence is shot at.

Walsall are at Crewe and Doncaster are at Notts County, Broncs.

I feel your pain. I couldn’t watch the last 10 mins, and afterwards I needed to go for a run to de-stress. I thought I’d do 3-4 miles but ended up doing 7.

I can’t face watching or listening to the game on Saturday so I’m going for a long walk without my phone.

In all seriousness football affects your mental health. I feel I’ve been on edge since yesterday, and I really can’t see us getting anything at the weekend - all teams are dropping point but Donny are on a roll. Throwing away good leads at Swindon and Chesterfield is extremely frustrating. Who’d be a football fan eh?
