@king karl How many subscribers do we have, and how many members?

 

As I see it, for all the reasons given by those heroes that actually run the site, it would be best to keep access to the forum pretty much as it is, i.e. voluntary
I would suggest a slight increase in the premium subscription fee (and request a fee processing contribution) but also, at time of sign up (as we'd all have to do it again for the new fee) provide the opportunity for one-off donations to the prediction league. It might also be an idea to have say a 2-week-long funding drive every year where all posts include a polite message asking for a donation. Wikipedia do sth like this for a month or so each year.

Another suggestion could be to whack the premium fee up to 20 or 30 quid then have a 'promotion' during Black Friday week or the club's early bird season ticket period where you can 'save' £5 or £10, for example. I've signed up to a few new apps this way.

In any case, the efforts put into running and moderating the site are greatly appreciated. I wouldn't do it for love nor money.

 

yep you could give a little badge to the winner so people knew who had won previous years.

I would be interested to know what % of regular contributors are paid up members?

In general this is a well run forum and for the number of hours people spending on here posting annually I think £10 a year is peanuts. Happy to continue to support the forum.

Edit. Also the layout and ease of use and ability to follow threads is far better than some of the other forums I have recently been on. Some are horrendous to navigate around

As a regular user of this site I have been a subscriber for a while now as the adverts were super annoying.
How much are we talking in monetary terms for the upgrade?
What if a surplus amount of people subscribed and then this started generating a profit to the site admins? I assume this is a not for profit voluntary service?
What then happens to the surplus revenue?

 

It’s all planned. They have already booked a week in Barbados at the Park Hotel. They hope the site will keep going whilst they are on the beach.
