I used to work in my school/ University holidays at John Fosters Mill in Bradford Moor, the company band was The Black Dyke Brass Band.

The main place/ head office for John Fosters and Sons was in Dewsbury I think.

 

That’s actually rather inclusive before it’s time. Sounds like something the BBC would put out nowadays.

Working on Saturdays as a "Saturday lad" was part of growing up.

I did it from about 15 years old whilst still at school doing my O/ A Levels, working through my school summer holidays as well.

Then doing the same when at university I worked through summer holidays to earn a few quid.

I used to love the Brass Band at half time. They could bring that back.
