Two very tough games on the way now for us without arguably our best three players. Two good results and we will be in a very good position with 8 to go. However with some of the matches to come if we lose points I think there could be a real struggle ahead.

 

Just need a 7-0 win to go top on Saturday then lads

Those chasing us are soon going to realise they're running out of games. Another win or two and they'll have to start chasing games more and that's when mistakes happen. We know how it was when we were chasing wins the last couple of seasons.

 

Why is it daft?
Did Walsall lose on Saturday therefore opening the door for us to potentially go top of the table?
The answer is yes!
Did we then go and lose to Gillingham therefore closing said door?
The answer is also yes!

 

The door is still wide open with 30 points for us to still play for.

Walsall now have 4 tough games to come, including games against Wimbledon, Donny and Port Vale.

 

It's now about results rather than performance. Teams aren't just going to roll over (as we saw at Gillingham), everyone is either in amongst it at the top or bottom of the league, or just out to take pleasure in scuppering another teams chance of going up.

 

Relegation watch. Out of interest, if things stayed the same as they are at the end of the season, I was looking who we’d play next season in L1 who got relegated from the Champ. Former premiership teams Luton (just last season!) and Derby, plus the largest city in England never to have had a Premiership side, Plymouth. Quite a big jump from playing Bromley to Derby County, and of course a big drive to get down to Home Park. Could all change of course. I see Cardiff, Stoke and Hull all getting sucked into a battle. Hull City away? Now that evokes some memories.

 

The immediate goal is not to catch Walsall but to open the gap wider to 4th place so you could argue we need Walsall to win those games

Personally would want a draw in those games. If Walsall pull away again, then only 2 places to fight for as opposed to 3 right now.

The only sure thing is that we somehow have to keep our 2025 form going and we are up.

Personally, I would take 3rd right now, title would be a lovely bonus of course

That’s very true , but I wouldn’t rely on Walsall to do too much. They lost another player after last night after he received his 10 th yellow. Right wing back . Supplied the cross for their second?

 

Add them to the long list, but they have to pay for the content and some of that goes back to the clubs.
