Just seen more news about the tanker crash. Looks very serious indeed and the environmental impact looks worrying. Although, perversely, efforts to mitigate will boost GDP, so some growth at least...

 

That's the thing about the environment. Cleaning up crap creates revenue. Why many politicians don't care because fixing whatever mess is created means people need to do it and that means selling services which are paid for so cleaning up is actually more beneficial than solving whatever the initial problem is.

Did you see the suggestion that MOTD should focus more on analysis than the highlights. I know @bailiff bridge bantam will be heartened by that thought, but surely the cost of the highlights must far outweigh the other costs of the programme, why sweat the small stuff??

I can't believe, even in these changing times, the main audience for the 10.30 show aren't either half-drunk or stuffed to the gills with takeaway. They just want to stare at football surely?

Final evening of a lovely week in Lanzarote. We've climbed part way up a volcanic mountain, visited the former capital, watched a wonderful carnival procession and been to Cesar Manrique's former home ( now museum). All without needing a hire car.
It's back to cold Edinburgh tomorrow.
