Bradford Park Avenue 1969 Video

Nice one Wakey it brought back some good old memories of watching Avenue with my Avenue mates when City were away, just goes to show the guy who was doing the documentary has no idea with regards football fans with his stupid comments at the end, why watch a team doing so badly when you could go 10 mile down the road and watch what was then First Division football clueless, I see Terry Dolan was amongst the Avenue players during those bad times

 

I was just gonna post this until i saw Wakey had posted it. A young terry Dolan early on in the video. A sad watch really knowing that a few years down the line the bulldozers would be in to demolish the place

 

I wonder how many forum members actually went to BPA with City .

Last derby game at Avenue was Jan 1969….. 56, yes 56 years ago. I remember the games at Avenue and all the associated “ issues” before during and after the games however, and oddly, I struggle to remember playing them at VP. Odd? Perhaps Avenue fans didn’t show up at VP in any numbers in the latter days ?

 

I did (with my dad). I remember watching the trains from the Kop. It was my girlfriend, later wife, who converted me to the Bantams in 1974/75.

 

When City were playing away I would sometimes go to Park Avenue with a friend who supported them. I remember watching Kevin Hector, Jim Fryatt, Ian Gibson , Jimmy Scoular.
I was there when they played the Czech international team in front of a sizeable crowd. The match was for the opening of their new floodlights. A few months later the Czechs were in the World Cup final of 1962!
