The key has been bringing in a scouting network and appointing a head of football.

Regardless of the whole situation with Danny Cowley, Ryan has ultimately got the appointment right with GA. It could go wrong, we might end up in the same situation with Hughes if we don't go up this season, but that was a tougher appointment I feel and Ryan deserves credit for replacing Hughes with someone else who could give it a good go.

I assume from what Ryan says there we will be a 5 3 2 side for the foreseeable future, beyond GA. If that's the case, thank goodness. We have a style and a bit of a football identity at long, long last.

 

Having experienced at least 8 Chief Execs , ( Not football) compared , he’s no different , no worse no better. Some worse than Mr Bean , never mind Mr Brent . He says all the right things for public consumption…. The detail you won’t get, especially in a private company with one shareholder.

 

Just put it on. How many times does he clear his throat? He does this in every interview and you will all now hear it every time

I'm sure he believes what's coming out of his mouth but every question seems to illicit a very long winded answer. Still got a lot to learn ultimately has achieved very little in 4 years, hopefully Sharpe can help keep him honest on his football decision making.

There's nothing "corporate world" about football. Or running a football club.

They have to “ show” extreme confidence in the public sphere . Comparing him , for example to Gent speaking publicly they are chalk and cheese . I can feel Gent trembling just listening to him. It’s not easy to do , but yes a lot of what is said is exactly what you say “ spin” ….. .

 

You wouldn’t say that to my face or his I absolutely guarantee . Life isn’t a school playground. When you know what you are talking about I’ll cease laughing at your infantile comments.

 

On this 'interview' only Kev I feel. In my honest opinion he 'knew' what the questions were and possibly 'rehearsed' beforehand?

On the 'fans forum' there are still several moments where he doesn't come across well at all, although it is miles removed from his performance in the same forum this time last year!! Let's not forget that was an absolute car crash. Personally I believe that he has only come across as so 'good' because he knows that his position is in a much better place due to the league position and doesn't feel as vulnerable!!

 

I don’t think he comes across that well, the questions were largely irrelevant and went unanswered, they just gave Sparks an opportunity to waffle on about whatever he wanted. And before it’s said, yes I do have a ‘narrative’, Ive never liked Sparks he’s an absolute tool.

 

I don’t disagree Ian, it’s a “ confidence” thing in my experience. Being well briefed and knowing your subject goes a long way. He seemed less confident answering questions “ aimed” at the owner tbh . He can only express the “ corporate line” , that’s generally what CEO’s can only do. You are spot on re his prep for the podcast, V the “ forum” and the performance on the grass certainly goes a long way , which I have been saying from the year dot.

This forum follows the exact same trend, we lose …” sack the owner, sell the club” , we go on a winning run and it all goes quiet .

If one can wade through the spin then they are a reasonable one off listen. I thought DS came across extremely well, whereas SG…awful.
