His appearances have been so short in time I wouldn't want to judge him yet. I have liked what I have seen so far. Another alternative might be Lapslie, although he is an attacking midfielder, but there again he hasn't been in the team at all lately, so would be rusty anyway.

Yes I agree, Walker does seem to be doing better catching/punching balls. He still doesn't seem to jump particularly high given his height but that may just be how it looks from afar.

I wasn't knocking Khela in any way. I just don't think he seems a Smallwood type player

 

There was a handball shout in the second half - maybe that?. May have been Huntington. Several of their players turned round and appealed to the ref so must have been close or hit his arm but the ref either didn't see it or didn't think it was.

 

How is that possible to know when he was on for 8 mins , 6 of which was game management time in and around the corners ?

 

I can't stand watching him if I'm honest.

Of course I appreciate his pressing, tracking and running the channels.

But any time the ball comes near him play breaks down. Be that a poor touch, poor pass, awful shot or simply making the wrong decision.

I was a doubter of this squad earlier this season but they've won me round now (almost) but I really do think the choice not to bring in a other striker in January will haunt us. Hopefully to be proven wrong though.

We had arguably the best centre forward in the league who because of injury has had to miss the last dozen or so matches. We haven’t done to bad without have we. GA decided to play one up front and recruited plenty of attacking midfielders and goals are coming from them. It would have been nice to have had the option but glad we just didn’t go for the easy option if we couldn’t find the right one

 

Honestly Kev we have our share of agreements and disagreements - all part of the fun . Just expressing my opinion based on the 6 minutes I saw!

 

TBF To Kavanagh it is difficult to trap a ball aimed at your head. Ouff-Ball to the lone striker Kavanagh is not was he's designed for. Not having an adequate repelace for Cook is the issue.
FWIW Cook would thrive with the players new found confidence and runners from Midfield actually going past him

 

He looked an attacking midfielder. I'm sure when he signed he was billed as a defensive midfielder but he looks a very similar profile to Leigh and Lapslie. Not sure I understand our January recruitment but time will tell whether it's worked

 

I found it strange that’s all. Hey no worries. I think he touched the ball twice, certainly once in the changing room cornerflag area.

 

And in the summer it was clearly reduced from the previous season.

 

In fairness, he struggles to stop a ball bouncing off his feet. He needs to spend hours and hours on his technical skills . I’m sure he does?

 

We haven't seen him play a holding midfield role was my point yet he has played there a handful of times previously in his career.

 

We need a target man...Mellon is the closest to that........... It won't work agains better teams too easy...
