The quality of the players is subjective and as I posted earlier,if the new signings don’t meet expectations it doesn’t meen the budget hasn’t been increased because it clearly has.

As I posted mate my quote was from Alexander it looks like he's leaving the decision to play on or have an operation to Richards, not heard Alexander's post match interview but did he mention why Critchlow wasn't even on the bench ?.

 

A difficult watch last night in the cold and wet.

Terrific goal from Pattison aside, very little quality from either side offensively.

Pattison man of the match for his goal alone. Decent performances from Smallwood and Pointon and the defence continued with their solid performances to keep another clean sheet.

Now we need to start picking more points away from home.

The pitch deteriorated badly since the weekend.

 

Can either of them play upfront?

 

To me it seemed a strange decision from GA. I thought Baldwin did ok in the middle, but when the defence has been doing so well, why move both Shepherd and Baldwin when he could have started with Huntingdon (or even Byrne!) in the middle of the 3.

 

Not including the Grimsby game where he went off injured, with / without Baldwin starting:

I thought he was booked for that silly foul but looking at the stats again @John Jackson is right, it must been those bloody advertising boards as you said the clearing header that hit the bar was Shepherd .
I said to the grandson for some reason Alexander looks like he wants to shoe Johnson in first chance he gets but on last night performance IMO he was average at best and didn't help Halliday play the wing back role, let's hope Critchlow's back on Saturday, having said that Huntington's not let us down so far and is a calming influence in the back 3 he'd be in my starting before Johnson.
I wonder where all the (we play better without Cook) fans are were picking up results but look toothless up top.

 

Yes I noticed that. I watched the Donny game on Monday night and theirs was worse imho. Certainly doubled up home games doesn’t give the pitch time to recover.

I don't really understand the issue with our right hand side last night because I did think Johnson and Halliday linked up quite nicely, and Johnson was the organiser down that flank.

I didn't see the wings as being as lopsided as others said, either. Leigh's better work was closing down on the right hand side as well. I'm not sure Accrington really got much down that side, but some of the reviews of the game made it seem like we got rinsed over and over?

 

There’s no doubt Cook has been missed in the last couple of games, but (in my opinion) we certainly play better (and pick up more points) without him. I don’t want to open this particular can of worms but so long as we’re winning I couldn’t care less who plays.

On last nights game I thought we looked tired and leggy (similar to the Harrogate game). We couldn’t maintain the press and started going long instead of through the middle. Maybe that’s due to tired minds as well as legs. The Birmingham game is certainly a game we could do without.

 

I have a bit of sympathy with the club not being able to sign a replacement as having both Cook and Oliver as the window opened they wouldn't be looking for that type of striker, I'm sure during the window we looked to see if there was anyone out there who could fill the Cook role ( very difficult I know) but Oliver obviously wasn't the answer maybe there was no one out there we fancied or more so could afford as we know usually players signed in the January window carry a premium fee.?.
