The Newport game is a massive one to win for the reason that these are the other fixtures this week, so 3 points puts clear daylight between others.

Wimbledon v Salford
Donny v Salford
Walsall v Chesterfield

That's the way we need to be thinking now. This last segment has got us into the auto-promotion picture, but to stay there we have to carry on our present form -- the very middling first segments mean we don't have any cushion.

My main fear is the 3 away games. We've just 3 away wins this season in the league, MK on opening day and then at strugglers Tranmere & Carlisle. We've 1 away win in our last 8.

Any ever thought that the reason our last 3 games have not been that good is also down to the opponents not willing to have a go unlike the Port Vale, Chesterfield and Walsall games ????

 

This Saturday is must win with all the teams around us playing each other. And Salford is one we cant lose. If we get past Birmingham (big IF I know), but the Swindon away game would be moved. Likely that 3 of out final 4 would be away from home if we get to the final, need to find a way of winning away.

 

We are fighting for an automatic spot and we are playing 4 teams below us in the table. Nothing to be happy about W2 D1 L1 against that bunch!!!

TBF we have found a way of winning away. But only in the Pizza/Paint/Windscreens Cup.

 

There's got to be something in what we do away from home to have such a contrast between home and away form? I cant think of anything massively noticeable like we played 10 yards deeper or drop an attacker into midfield. I must admit I'm struggling to remember the Tranmere away wins, but against MK and Carlisle it felt like we scored with our only real efforts on goal? Hopefully they have the confidence to let loose a little more away from home.

 

I'd snap your hands off with 8 from 12. Take us to 61 points with 12 to play. As @Bigrod alluded to, 2 points averaged out, would take us to 85 points.

That's automatic promotion.

 

We don’t get many clean sheets away from home and combined with not scoring 2 goals away from home very often makes it difficult to win away.

 

I dont fancy Salfords chances if they are playing away at Wimbledon and Doncaster on the same day LOL
Doncaster have Grimsby in the early kick off.

 

Difficult to predict but I think we are in third slot and the players will want to stay there if not higher. They have worked hard to get there and will not want to be knocked off.

A question for @Jordan do the players get a bonus for being in third place now or do they have to wait until the end of the season for bonus payments?

 

Aye a typo there, Other than Bradford the only other side in the top 10 not playing a top 10 side is Crewe who are away at Gillingham.

We really have to push on in February as our games are mainly bottom half teams and beyond Salford in early March we don't play any top 10 sides until early April. This is our time to really put ourself up there. Come late April we have Notts County, Chesterfield and Donny back to back. We need points in the bank by then.
