Shepherd was incredible today. I think he's one of those players that just needed some time and experience. He's only had 18 months in the pro game, he wasn't even part of am academy system.

At the start, some of his play was ropey at best, his tackling felt last ditch or nothing and he was picking up cards like his life depended on it. He looked to have the tools but not of the nuance, but lately he is looking unstoppable at the back. He's switched on to everything. Barnsley have a cracking player for L1 next season if they don't go up.

I think he signed a new 2 year deal before joining us on top.of his existing one. He's under contract for a while there.

 

Worryingly the Barnsley fans don't seem to rate any of their centre backs currently at the club, with Shepherd progressing at the rate he is i'd expect them to give him a first team chance next season.

First Half, our left were pretty much on a par with Richard’s being in there .

 

Would like to see the footage of when Kav got injured again. Pretty sure O'Connor went down the back of his leg with his studs on purpose.

100% it was studs down the calf to the heel , about the halfway line from memory. I posted it in real time .Terrible sneaky foul.

 

At the time I thought it was a deliberate action.

 

We spotted it in our seats in the kop. It looked like one of those that used to be called a "professional foul". Where you completely know what you are doing but can hide it within the letter of the law.

Kav looked a mile off it today but Leigh and Mellon didn't exactly stand out either. I still think we needed/need an experienced striker.

 

As I said above, I was directly alongside it. He definitely caught him late from behind with his studs. Should have been a free kick and a booking.

I wasn’t sure initially but on reflection he knew what he was doing.

 

I thought Halliday just had an OK game. A couple of times his final ball was poor. The right side certainly wasn't as strong as the left today.

 

None of them are any good without an Ancelotti(RS) to pass to.

 

I reckon from that AC era RS would be more Desailly
