We're a Gang!

Two tough home games coming up, against the so called lesser teams we usually struggle against .
Six points against these and they can call themselves whatever they want.
It is nice though that they do appear to be a happy bunch, which must be down to how GA and his team are managing them.
This is the best chance we have had in years and we need to play our part, with loud vocal support, even if things do not initially go our way.

 

They look two tough games because of our mentality against these type of teams but for me it seems to have changed ...........can only see two wins for me

 

I hope you are right, should put us right in the mix.

 

I know Sky mic and camera coverage is from the Midland Rd and adjacent to the away section but does it come across at much better in real life than on the Tv? It seems very quiet from our fan base even when excelling on the grass….over Xmas / New Year for example?. I realise it’s difficult, but far and away , since the original development after the disaster, the original “ new” kop was absolutely amazing place to be on game day? I miss it for sure.

 

Could also be interpreted as " please don't drop me for the new keeper you've just signed " .

Joking aside, I agree about the togetherness starting to show

 

The atmosphere like the football can be hit and miss, i had hoped bringing the drum down, would really ramp it up.
You are right though . The redeveloped kop after the fire was amazing and pure beaurocratic madness to have to demolish it. It was far safer and easier to empty than the seated version we have now.
The money spent on that could have helped really finish the stadium with a re developed Bradford end.

I remember the old new kop. We used to stand and I loved it. The noise on match days was something else. I had to stand on the cement round the rafters as I couldn’t see if we scored, but by the time I had done that,I was carried forward, and still didn’t see a goal at that end… the vagaries of being 5ft 1”. Still loved it. We only went to the stand as my 6’1” husband had developed a very sore knee, carpenter + amateur football.

 

I would still prefer to stand rather than sit, you can jiggle about a bit more on those really cold days.
i am a carpenter and yes very sore knees and back. although my football days ended with a nasty ankle injury at quite an early stage.

 

I'm also a carpenter hence the username and have dodgy knees but would prefer to stand up at games. Not much happy clapping though not with the arthritic hands

 

Building constraints on that end of the stadium denotes that it will never be developed to anything much different to what it is now.

Just to add, am in Iosing my marbles or was plans (or just an artists impression) drawn up in the 80s for a double decked stand on the Midland Road? My mind is telling me there was, I can even visualise the drawing, sure it was in the T and A?

 

You are right it was fantastic…The sound echoing via the big roof was “thrown” to all parts of the ground too.

 

Honestly Andy try a heated gilet…brilliant for “ backs and necks”.

 

There certainly were drawings of a wrap around from the main stand and the Bradford End. I Think the one you refer to created a tunnel like structure under the stand to carry Midland Rd traffic?

 

In fantasy land where VP gets redeveloped, that end would have to look something like the Aviva in Dublin.

 

Yes he had arthritis in his hand’s. His footballing days came to end when he got sent off for a fouling a lad and they fined him £2. £2 was a lot when you are only just getting by.

Will have a look into a heated Gillett. The cold puts him off going these days, as he can barely walk after being sat down.

 

I had a virus about 30 years ago that meant all my joints “ exploded” and just wouldn’t work. St Luke’s for quite a while , means , although recovered now , the cold “ hurts” . A heated gilet works absolute wonders if I have outside jobs at home . Washed the pig poo and mud off my shiney white car this afternoon . Toasty at 2 degrees! . I’d lend him mine if I lived locally to try it out..alas .
Rechargeable battery lasts about 5 hours, plenty for game day!

 

Big Geoff also had plans for a second tier on midland road, which would have happened if we had stayed up for one more premier league season

 

the ground was going to look the same all the way round , midland road was going to be a tunnel under the stand .
