It’s the well known domino effect, “ I’ll let you have XX only if we can get cover”, and round and round it goes .

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. Byrne isn't good enough if we are serious about going for promotion, hence why he hasn't even been in the match day squad for ages. That leaves Shepherd and Huntington that can play in the centre, one of whom is injury prone. On the right, the only back up for Baldwin are 2 RB/RWB's in Halliday and Johnson, one of whom is injury prone.
So even before Kelly's injury which means we now need cover on the left, we needed cover for the centre and right.

The key word ……”unlikely” ….More meaningless spin. “ We have fought off many other higher league clubs to get him in the door” . Sigh…

Imagine needing to bring in defenders to replace the first choice defender (that's know 6th choice) despite anyone with half a brain knowing he didn't have the ability.

That signing should have been our first choice centre back to lead the back in line, instead we chose a bit part player with career mostly in non league. The fact Huntingdon is ahead of him speaks volumes.

    You're just being negative,
You can only judge him once he's played,
I trust the managers opinion over yours,
    Blah, blah, blah .....

Round, round baby right round ......

Roll on July for the next exciting episode.

If he's bringing Wright on before him, I'd say not. Suppose we will know today if we bring another in.

Hindsight but we messed up letting Platt go and his performances for Notts prove that, the club probably saw Byrne as a cost saving on wages and the £ won out yet again.

Byrne is poor and should be nowhere near the first 11.

In signings like Kelly and Shepherd we've acquired young lads with an unknown background so could have been anything but we knew what Byrne was all about.

If someone wants to leave there's not a lot you can do. Byrne wasn't the right replacement, but you can't bash the club on Platt.

Last few January deadline days...... Any good?

2024 - Calum Kavanagh: Yet to be determined but looks promising but inconsistent.
2023 - Sam Stubbs: Probably never going to play again for us after a very in and out spell. Probably a no?
2022 - Luke Hendrie: No, not good enough. Nathan Delfouneso (loan): Lol who?
2021 - Charles Vernam: No, fitness and form were dire. Ollie Crankshaw: No, never played and when he did he looked naff until his final few performances when he got a few assists.
2020 - Kurtis Guthrie: LOL. Lee Novak: Was still something there in him but he was fairly crocked by the time he signed for us.

Charlie Wyke on deadline day 2017 was the last for certain great signing we've made on deadline day.

A new name from the T&A blog, Andrew Oluwabori, a 23 year old winger from Halifax. Looks like he's played on the right of a front 3 this season, 6 goals in the NL for Fax this season, last season he had 4 goal and 4 assists.

    You forgot
“Well who would you buy then”

I presume you have full access to the in depth scouting system and list of contacts/ football agents that a professional football club has?

Williamson has been sacked. Brought in 11 players so far this month and now need a new boss to try knit it all together, along with all the others on the books. These lot sound very doomed!

    :joy:

We're so bloody predictable. Another attacking midfield type player.

Honestly, Gent is stealing a wage at this point. Is he not looking at defenders and left wing backs??

Get a left wing back in and then let Wright have a go at the top of the pitch. That would put us in a stronger position as we'll have signed an actual left back/wing back.

New keeper. He's 25 and been a back up so far his career apart from some short loan spells. Had a loan spell at Hamilton in the Scottish Champ in 21/22

They've a squad of nearly 30 players. Absolutely wild what Carlisle are doing.
