Why do you say that? Take out the inherent pessimism that comes with being a city fan and this has routine home win written all over it.

They are bottom of the league and pretty hopeless, we are on a great run of form and have the 2nd beat home record in the league. This is as easy a game as there is in the league.

If we are truely serious about challenging for promotion, then tonight we simply have to win. Providing the players are confident but not overly arrogant, then table and form tells you we should go out and blow them away. Time to put to bed these banana skins of which they have been in the past, and show everyone our real intent for the season by following up Saturdays result with an equally convincing performance.

Providing all are fit, I don’t see any changes to the 18 squad but maybe an odd change in the starting XI.

That all depends on how long you've been a City fan.

I remember Swansea rocking up at VP one year without an away point and not even having scored an away goal.

    The result? We conceded 6!

There's been loads even in recent seasons. Doomed FGR had us last season, sure Sutton did us too. Rochdale beat us when they went down at VP. I'm sure there was a team last season who hadn't won away in like 15 games and won at VP. Hartlepool is the one I remember who hadn't won away in donkeys years, manager was on the verge of the sack, and they literally went from the kick off and scored inside a minute, ended up putting 3 past us that night.

If we can score early then yes, it should be a walk in the park but Morecambe are fighting for their lives and Del boy won't let them go down without a fight. They'll come to frustrate and the longer they manage to do that, the greater the chance it will end 0-0 and they'll walk away with a point or they'll manage to nick all 3 by scoring late on.
As Cloughy used to say, it might look easy on paper but the game is played on grass.

I think we're going to see a couple of changes in the starting 11 tonight as GA has said there are a few with bumps and bruises and/or feeling a bit of tightness after Saturday.

Pointon had a limp until he went off on Saturday, similar Richards was holding his leg left and running awkwardly it seemed, wonder if they will be some? Surely Mellon gets his debut today against these lot? Off the bench though.

I don’t want to see any changes in the starting 11 , continuity seems to fe flourishing Olly?
Keep the same and if doing well mass changes on 60 mins is my thinking.

Leigh will certainly get game time for Kav and perhaps Khela for Smallwood or Sarcevic ?

True. If the players approach it with that attitude, it will certainly be difficult.

If Pointon and Richards are both out that’s a massive blow. They’ve been linking up really well recently.

That would leave us playing Wright at LWB and I imagine Leigh or Lapslie for Pointon.

Mellon will likely get 10-15 mins.

Agree with your review. In the thread about points needed, someone commented on the old ‘mantra’ of take one game at a time.
Yes the form books suggest a solid home victory, but so many times we have failed. So what the form books suggests, is just that, it is the performance over the 90 minutes tonight which will be the acid test.
I can see the full range of results.
0-1 loss as we become frustrated.
0-0 bore draw, in essence a game of attack V defence.
1-0 City win, narrow with lots of missed opportunities, but a win nonetheless.
2+-0 win City easily push on.
I still think we need to score early. Take the pressure off. I would think their heads will go down
No star striker Angol, to power them on!!!

I'm far more worried today than I was on Saturday morning, put it that way. We've just seen it too many times to be overly confident. My head says there's no way we cant cause Luke Hendrie in 2025 a world of problems? Or a midfield with Yann Songo'o starting in 2025 isn't one we can get through? They have scored 3 goals since the first game of December! Their keeper has 3 clean sheets since May 2021, but of those was against us in November o_O

Everything known to man says this should be a clean City win.......... but it's City

I've never had a problem with Luke Hendrie, but if Pointon and Richards are fit and playing, then he is in for a torrid time tonight.

Is it bit like we were expected to lose on Saturday and we threw the form book away. Likewise with this one against Morecambe we are exposed to win with bells on. But we know GA will have none of that and at least we know what we are getting.

In 31 years of supporting this club, we all know what usually happens these fixtures.

A resounding 2-0 win and Derek Adams to be sent to the stands.

I'm confident we will be bang up for this tonight. I hope we get in front and GA is able to manage players game time sensibly with another "biggie" coming up on Saturday.
