Cook was playing in a side when both scoring midfirlders where either injured or suspended you really believe without Cook and both players who scored yesterday we would have been better off ????

Honestly to many folk trying to water down what Cook has done this season where in reality he is one of the reason we are up there ..................

 

100%. Everything we did before was crafted to provide service to Cook. It's not like Pattison hasn't played enough to see how a team functions with him and Cook playing together. I agree that Sarcevic coming in has helped but our whole approach looks different. On the occasions when Cook hasn't played we've always looked better going forward.

 

Everything had to be centered around Cook because either Pattison was injured or suspended ........what im saying at the time when Cook was scoring there was nobody else in that side who was gonna get goals even with a different formation...............had we played this set up from August to December without Cook do you honestly believe that we would be better off ??‽????

Yes we may have looked a better side but i can put money that the end product wouldnt have been there.

Yes agreed we do look a better side but i aint gonna have folk dismiss what Cook did in a side that didnt have anyone apart from pointon who would step up and score goals.
The reason we stand where we are is down to Cooks goals keeping us in touch you take Cook out of that side and i think he story would be a lot differrent

 

Absolutely no disrespect to Cook and wish him a speedy recovery but we seem to be a much better team without him, the players have all stepped up and playing like a unit as opposed to hoofing it up to cook and hoping for the best.

 

I disagree mate. I know it'll wind people up because he's understandably adored but I knew as soon as he was out that we'd pick up. Pattison is playing the way he is because he's able to get forward and play for himself rather than constantly looking to provide service for Cook. Every goal yesterday is a perfect example of that. Each of those attacks would have been stifled. The ball would have either been hit long or shuffled out wide for a hopeful cross into the middle.Jamie Walker would be flourishing now if he was in the side. Pointon, Kavanagh, Pattison all playing with the freedom they're allowed to now without Cook in the side.

 

But the main reason we played that way was down to having no goalscoring midfielders........... you really believe that if we had a full fit squad that GA would still go with the longball to stuff Cook way ????,
We had to play that way to Cook because frankly who else was gonna score ??????

 

Has Pattison been full fit from August to December ??????
I do get your point bud if he was fit but he wasnt was he who else was gonna step up and do what hes doing ?????

It was cos Andy Cook wasn't in the team m8, he's held us back for three years.

 

Take him out of that team over thevlast 3 seasons and who was magically gonna turn up and get the gosls he got ??????

 

I’ve brought my wife a couple of times but she has no interest in football and just laughed when the other team scored so she’s now banned!

 

I think the problem with Mellon is that he has hardly played this season and isn’t up to speed yet.

 

Like I'm going to take football opinions from someone whose only adjective is "shite".

 

We played a huge amount of long balls, a lot of them into touch in the first half, from Baldwin and Kelly.

Second half was a little better but I'm not sure where this idea of total football now Cook isn't there comes from, it feels like we're just seeing what we want to see due to the terrific results we've had.

As we've discussed before, stats can be pretty meaningless but the 55% possession and 60% pass completion rate we had yesterday certainly doesn't suggest that all of a sudden we're now a passing side.

 

I suggest any of our fans on self imposed bans, not buying a ST and staying away from VP might be feeling a bit concerned that they're gonna miss a promotion season and start lashing out on here and doubling down on their negativity. Bring it on. Come on City

 

Exactly. If it fits your agenda its easy to suggest that a good performance has come off the back of change. In terms of passing and the goals yesterday our forward had little to no bearing on it, merely down to a midfield that dominated.
