Happy to see the lad turn his form around. Took some terrible stick from the supporters before early December, not all justified.

Agree. I was gutted when he got injured, but by ‘eck, what lovely stuff we play without him. Cookies played his part in keeping us treading water in the table with his goals, which now allows us to really kick on playing a different style of footie. Now let’s nail Morecambe and not let standards slip .

I said exactly the same the other week ( Xmas) that Smallwood is a far better player with runners doing the grafting in front of him . A much shorter passing outlet than long punts which by nature are inaccurate . He’s a changed player since Sarcevic and Pattison have returned . Long may it continue !

Me included but he’s made up for his lack of technical ability with sheer graft . Hats off to him .

The gap to 8th could be 9 points on Tuesday and we have a game in hand on Grimsby.
The further away we get from 7th the more we can really drive for the top 3.

It’s very unfortunate and feel bad for cook but sometimes these events are what change the season around
    Question to all fans
Would you rather have cook score 30 goals and have another failed season
    OR
Be without cook, look a better all rounded team and get promoted

Still buzzing to be honest. I like to think I'm constructive in my criticism or praise, today we controlled from minute 1 to the end against the form team in the division. What impressed me most was the fact we outworked a team who are top primarily due to their work ethic. Once it was clear the couldn't out work us there was only one winner.
Make no mistake they will go up they're a decent side. We made them look ordinary today.

This has to be the season.

    Current home form is P 13 W 9 D 3 L 1

We were superb today. The energy and movement in the team that started is going to be tough for any other side in L2 to match.

Over the last month the gap between the gap between the mid table teams and play off places has grown a lot, there's still 19 or 20 games left for everyone so a lot football to be played but it is reminding me a big of the 22/23 season which was close for a lot of the season then going into the last 10-15 games the top 8 pulled away from the rest and you had 2nd - 8th competing for 2nd - 7th.

Highlight of the day for me personally was the new hand drier in the kop toilet. Like a guilty pleasure having dry hands after a slash.

Said earlier in the week, but the Walsall plan so far this season has been to hoof it down a channel, Matt holds it up for a runner and they pepper the net. But we just ran every yard with them in the first half and obviously Matt going off changed their plan but we didn't let him have an inch of space when he was on.

They were never going to look impressive to all with the way they play football, but even so they looked average at best.

I thought the same listening to him on the way home
Today isn’t the “statement win” Tuesday is the most important game.
Whilst 4 points from today and next Tuesday would have probably been acceptable to some fans, teams that finish in the top 3 beat the bottom sides and the top sides at home.
3 points is an absolute must on Tuesday to show the other teams around us that we are a serious player this year.

Lee Angol really doesn't want to face us.
Suspended for the away game, sent off today so out Tuesday???

Just back. M62 a nightmare from Ainley Top.

The game today, was the best I have seen City play this decade!

    A tremendous all round performance.

Hopefully we can keep the tempo on Tuesday evening. City often do well against the better sides and then bomb against the bottom feeders.

Add to that and it is Uncle Fester!

Still no Lee Angol! However Luke Hendrie, Yann Songo’o and Callum Cooke are likely to play.

Just to repeat, that was definitely the best I have seen City play this decade!

    Fantastic result and performance today.

I feel for Walsall a teeny bit because having lost their star striker, Jamille Matt then hobbled off... but it's not an excuse today, we were simply the better team throughout.

Congratulations to GA and the players on a job very, very well done.

Agreed - and going to Carlisle and getting a win despite them being pretty spirited was a good win.

Now we absolutely must beat Morecambe.

    There are no excuses.

We know their players will "run through brick walls" as Derek Adams used to say, well so must we.
