Snow isn’t due to arrive until Saturday evening. More of a problem might be the pitch being frozen.

 

Most likely another case of government "control by fear", the weather warning covered friday to monday yet when you read into the actual weather within the warning, we only had actual snow for about a two hour spell on sunday. The rest was merely sleet showers and the odd dip below freezing. In fact saturday was initially forecast as lovely crisp winters day with plenty of sunshine.

these forecasters dont know their arse from their elbow half the time and more often than not the best way to gauge the weather is simply by opening the curtains

The current Met Office forecast for BD8 doesn't have snow until 9pm. Tonight will be the biggest risk for the game with minus temperatures from 5pm this evening until 5am tomorrow morning

 

How low do the covers protect the pitch to? Is it -5?

 

I think it's -3 they are effective to but the issue tends to be that ground level temperature in the stadium can be a bit colder than the outside temperature so -2 tonight could be -4 on the pitch. Tomorrow is meant to get up to 4 but I can't see that being enough to thaw the pitch if it starts to freeze.

 

I think we will have widespread postponements across the country this weekend due to frozen pitches.

Temperatures could get as low as -7 over the next couple of nights. Starting with tonight.

I think our next league match will be Carlisle away on the 18th January.

 

BBC weather app has been so hit and miss for years now since they stopped using MET data and bobbed onto some Dutch forecaster instead (or they were at the time).

Either way, it looks like I might need to find my gloves for Saturday!!

 

I hope the bloke on my row finds his gloves for Saturday. He's got the most aggressive and loudest clap I've ever heard. Scares the hell out me sometimes

 

I had to wear the wife's earlier on walking the dog around Roberts park, although I don't think she'll let me get away with it again on Saturday!

I have a pair of leather gloves I wear especially for games in the winter months. Our son christened them my clapping gloves. The sound is much louder in leather gloves than with bare hands. Hope the bloke on your row has woolly gloves.
