We recruited some of the players early in the summer. We looked at a centre-half who was a part of the worst defence in the Football League and thought "Yeah. We'll have some of that." Same with Byrne. We were told by the happy clappers to stop living in the past and to stop thinking about bringing former players back, only for them to cream themselves when we brought Wright back. We repeated the mistake of bringing in another LWB who doesn't want to play there. We didn't bring in anyone to replace or compete with an aging Smallwood until it was too late and Evans can't stay fit. We needed more legs in midfield so we brought in Sarcevic whose legs are starting to go.

Crap and cheap recruitment. All of them have a say, all of them are culpable.

I'm running out of words to describe how awful Smallwood is. Just try watching him for a few minutes in a game and you'll soon see what an absolute waste of space he is. And to pair him with Sarcevic is verging on insanity. We saw them together in September and it was obvious then we would get overrun if they played together. Both of them are over the hill and we've got Sarcevic for another season. We complain about our defenders and attackers, with some justification, but if you've no midfield you've no chance. Nothing to feed on if you're an attacker and the opposition pouring through at you if you're a defender.

Try and tempt a manager who is currently employed and doing a good job. My shout was Lee Bell at Crewe. Adam Hinshelwood at York is a very good shout though
