But what is the point in keeping absolutely shite like Diabete and Sanderson around when they are clearly down the pecking order? What is wrong with looking for replacements that will improve us? Sanderson is currently 5th choice and Diabete is currently 6th choice.

We are allowed to sign players in January.

We do not need a Tom Nichols.
We need someone who can compliment Andy Cook, when fit he plays, so anyone of similar ability wont sign to play a bit part.
Smith , Sanderson and Kavanagh, have all struggled to play along side him, Sanderson looked bright early on, but has faded. Send him back and put Harry Ibbertson on the bench and try and bring another of our youngster's through. He is a tall lad and could also take Valery Olivers place.
We look well stacked in defence, i would keep Huntington, Shepherd may well be recalled, if not send Diabate back. Benn i think will stay, his performances have dropped off a bit and Lincoln are doing OK.
Midfield is my big concern. Smallwood is alright, but not mobile enough, Pattison , can he stay fit? Good player when bang at it. Walker has been a big letdown, promises much but delivers little and is always on the edge of an injury or booking, probably time to cut our loses.
Odour to weak hearted and feeble, my 4 year old grandson could knock him off the ball. Pointon will improve with games and shows more commitment than a few others put togethor..
Evans again has looked alright, but can he stay the pace.
It looks like Wilson is miles away from GA's thinking, which is a shame, as we have not seen enough of him to really judge.
We definately need a proper second keeper to challenge Sam Walker and keep him on his toes.Treatment needed, but not major surgery.
    That touch more quality.
Will we get it? Anyone's guess.

I thought Sharp’s job was to do the deal / finances/ as opposed to scouting etc. If he is, scouting what does that say about Gents position ? I don’t see the need for Gent in all honesty Dave? Yes he’s run his course and should have exited with MH imho.

It would be great, if the club told us who was exactly responsable for what.
    Sparks, Sharpe Gent.
If Gent is scouting and Sharpe working out the details of the contracts, what exactly is Sparks doing, playing with his train set.
On the commercial side it appears that Mr Davide Longo is doing a great jog, so again nothing to do with Sparks.
In my eyes, we appear to have one employee too many at the top.

Sorry mate, I respect the optimism on a forum lacking it, but to call most of the decent is very optimistic, to say the least. Byrne, hasn't been as bad as I have expected, but against pacier front lines he's been turned inside out at times and would have been at fault for more goals if not for some poor misses earlier in the season. He's good against more physical teams though tbf. Baldwin, not his fault but to call someone decent when they have hardly played is a biased way to look at it. Benn has been okay, last few games I've seen him he's not looked as good. It reminds me a bit of Sanderson, people getting over excited because his replacement (Kav in that case) was doing so poor. Had Halliday's form not collapsed he wouldn't even get a mention. Shepherd, the only one I'd genuinely call decent I've been impressed by him but he could well be gone in January. Diabete, not sure how he even can be debated. He has disappeared in a pretty mediocre defence; if he can't get in our backline, then he needs to seriously find some form, and he is another who will probably go in January anyway. Most of those names won't be here next season and we are midtable, so what are we exactly building from these signings and what's decent about them?

The defenders are much maligned at our club.
Clean sheets have been hard to find.
We have played 26 games in total.
    5 clean sheets
    15 conceded 1 goal
    6 2 goals
Yes it could be better, but are main problem is else where.
Creating and taking chances is a big problem, even with one of the best strikers in the division.
5 extra goals throughout out those games, could have gained another 10 points, leaving us sat in 2nd place.
Up front for me is the issue and has been for years.

Have we ever had a midfielder at the club who could weigh in , with any quantity, adding to the goal tally ?

The last time we had a free scoring front pair was Nahkki / Jim and prior to that Mills / Blake ? Can’t think of any other pairing other than Bobby / Hawley or Bobby/ Daisey ? Memory fades !

Always appears to have been the same, with regular goal scorers , either individually , or as a pair , seems to be very elusive to Bradford city.
What we would give for a Mills , Blake, Beagrie scenario .

It would have to be on loan for me similar to when Cook was loaned here, but I'm not sure he's the type of partner we need for Cook if he's as he describes himself "they play up to me and I try to hold the ball up and get the team up the pitch".

I got the impression that Sharpe, Gent and Alexander would have a diiscussion, Sharpe would tell Gent the type of players to look for. Then Alexander with probably some input from Sharpe would make the final decision on the player, and the lad would left the negotiate the wages/deal.

Agree Peterborough got rid pretty quickly after signing him on a 4 year contract.

Ha ha..Like new managers arriving, they have to assess the squads strengths and weaknesses. I’m hoping he’s doing that.

This may not go down well with some! I rate Cookie as a great finisher. Provide him with the opportunities in or around the penalty area and there's a good chance he'll score with his feet or his head. He's quite selfish in that respect and scoring himself is his prime focus. He doesn't need to be part of a conventional partnership. He relies on others getting the ball into the box for him to feed off. The players who provide his opportunities are not conventional co-strikers but attacking midfielders or wingbacks or the type that hussles and hustles in Cookie's own favoured areas. In all the time he's been with us, he hasn't needed a partner in the mould of previous partnerships at VP. And he's been very successful as a finisher for us even without this regular partner. It's not the way he plays. I believe Hughes saw this and brought Oliver in as part of a potential, more productive partnership (probably with a new partner for Oliver) but Cookie proved him wrong!

The result of this is that we've become overly reliant on Cookie with no other striker in his time contributing more than a handful of goals. And ironically that's helped enormously in the goals for column!

But it's very risky when Cookie isn't available or he gets marked out of the game. It's a conundrum all of our recent managers have faced. No manager in his right mind would willingly get rid of Cookie. No other striker has got even close to Cookie's tally and would be unlikely to do so. I doubt very much that a striker who could complement Cooke's style and score lots of goals himself would be available in the transfer window because I struggle to even think of a type of striker who could do that.

    Shepherd gunna be recalled.
    Nichols in from Mansfield.
    Carlisle in for Cook.

What a depressing set of rumours.
