Smallwood needs replacing imo, not an understudy.

Remember Sharpe said January plans are firmly in place!
Of course the plan could be to do nothing ;)

Think the plan will be to move folk on rather than recruit

Likely Diabate, Adams and Sanderson will go back to their parent clubs. I think Jamie Walker could possibly leave this window too. Also, Oduor, Smith and Oliver

Nobody wanted them in the summer. Can’t imagine anybody needing them in January. I think we’re stuck with them.

I think there will be more outgoings than incomings.

I think we need a new keeper to offer genuine competition for Walker, but doubt that will happen.

I think we then need 2 strikers if we can send Sanderson back and get shut of Oliver or Smith, or both hopefully.

If Huntington's contract is extended we don't need anybody else at the back in my opinion.

If Benn stays we are fine for right wing back options. I would have said we needed a left wing back a few weeks ago, however, Richards is making that position his own with some very impressive performances.

So I don't see many incomings at all.

    Decent appraisal tbf.

I can see a couple perhaps , one loanee perhaps to cover for Sandersons return back to Fulham because Smith isn’t even factored in the first 18 imho.

I can’t get my head round Walker, one minute he looks like he’s playing for a new deal, the next the game just passes him by. Evans in his two cameos has been excellent and a ready replacement and when Sarcevic is game fit , we are covered, but a young dynamic loanee wouldn’t go amiss?

I wouldn't be surprised if plans have changed a bit since a few players have come back from injury. There might have been reluctant agreement a few weeks ago that we needed to 'invest' in January but I bet the thinking now has turned to 'maybe we can getaway with what we've got'. I'm not saying there won't be changes, but I'm not expecting much.

There has to be help for Cook.

Kav’s looked ok in the last 2 games but he’s definitely not the answer if we want a serious go at promotion.

He did well against Stockport and took his goals well, but that one yesterday 99 times out of 100 gets stopped by the keeper or dealt with before Kav even gets in on goal. Weak keeping and weak defending rather than convincing forward play.

Hopefully it gives Kav the confidence to kick on, but for sure we should be looking for a consistent threat rather than pinning hopes on him.

It's not the sentiment here I disagree with, but I think it would be naive - like letting Gilliead go and struggling to cobble together a midfield with all our injury prone players.

Imagine if we'd "replaced" the reliable Smallwood with Sarcevic in the Summer... dear oh dear, with Evans also looking injury prone we'd have been up the creek without a paddle.

If it happened we'd probably finish 18th instead of 11th, pretty much of a muchness I'd say.

Well yeah that's absolutely true lol

Which is why it's only right we don't tolerate 11th place either, as much as it upsets them at VP. It's nowhere near good enough season after season.

I think we could take Smallwood out the team and results don't change much at all. There are many players at this level who can sit in front of the defence, slow down play, argue with the ref and point their finger randomly while making the most basic passes possible.

Due to the best player in the world (Rodri) being a DM, people seem to think its now some magical position, which at the top, it can be but at this level, a defensive midfielder who can protect the back four and play simple passes isn't hard to come by

There are many players that can do it - but we don't seem to have many that aren't hiding out in the sick bay

If the rumour about Sharpe contacting Mansfield about taking Tom Nicholls is true, then I don't think the powers that be agree with you that help is needed for Cook.

A league 2 goal of the month winner from March 2021.

    It’s a yes from me.
