Maybe I should have worded my post better. In my opinion Pointon was knackered last 20 mins. He'd lost his spark and was getting bullied off the ball and the sensible thing would have been to bring fresh legs on before he got himself another booking. Walker would have been the obvious replacement

 

I think the attitude of the manager was to get 3 points by any means necessary. Not making his first unforced change until about 80 odd minutes when you could see a number of players were blowing, showed he was scared of letting them back in. A tactically confident manager would have changed a couple of players around the 70-minute mark and pushed on to score more and put the game to bed. Three points in the bag, and I suppose the win was the most important for morale.

 

Why was Benn hooked at half time?

 

Injured his foot in a challenge just before half-time according to GA in the YP. Doesn't sound serious.

 

He took a few knocks in the first half from juicy 50/50 challenges, you could see he was struggling toward the end of the first half, so no surprise with the switch

I think we all can agree he's not the most technically gifted player and being asked to play as the lone striker and run the channels isn't his game and it showed. We tried to play with less hoof which was pleasing, but we need a technically decent and pacy guy to do so effectively.

 

Evan’s had to come off because he was injured.

He did well at Stockport playing exactly the “ game” you said he can’t play. I don’t disagree with your overall comments but he did prove he can be effective when we keep it on the floor.

That type of game at County is better played away rather than at VP, however.
