Still debatable if he is a good goalscorer to be fair. He has 5 goals from 19 so far this season, but 4 of them were scored within 11 days of each other. Take that spell out and he's scored 1 in 16. He's not having a great season, he just had a really good fortnight.

Fair point! But he has to start somewhere. I think a return of double figures would be a great season for him and he seems on target to do that

He needs it to work out this year. Looks like he's out of contract in the summer and I can't imagine Burnley keep him on now he's 22 and still trying to make L2 a success.

He was one of those were I just couldn't work out where he was best to fit? He didn't have pace or look to take a man on to play out wide. He didn't look a natural finisher or have much build to be a hold up man, so maybe not a striker either. Looks like Accy use him on the left of a front 3.

The Twitter account is wishing Billy Clarke happy birthday, usually I would not think much of it but knowing City, that could be our January transfer window right there. Even more so if Billy Clarke has been in the Middlesbrough area recently.

This is why those hoping Oliver cuts his losses are wasting their own time.

He stays , I don’t blame him, keeps his salary anyway and stays fit, because he sure as hell , he won’t get another deal like he’s on anywhere else. . If they pay him off it willl be probably on “ gardening leave “ too.?

His one hope is probably Gillingham. Other than that, yeah, it's a pay cut and possibly a drop to non league.

Do Carlisle need to replace Wyke still with a target man? They are clearly clueless these days in the market, someone give them a bell!

I said during the summer window, but there's a guy at work who says he is ITK at York. Anyway, he said that they tried in the summer but they could get nowhere near his deal here and Oliver didn't want to drop down. No idea how true, if at all, but I bet that's about as good as he'd hope to get at the minute.

A Barnsley fan at work says there's a bit of momentum building, at least amongst supporters, to take Shepherd back in January. They've got some injury problems at CB

Could leave a problem which may affect any recruitment elsewhere in the team.

Shepherd may well leave as per the above, diabete has fallen off the face of the earth and might aswell go back now however we may fall "lucky" in that Benn has had a bit of a dip in form so most likely won't be earning admirer's back at Lincoln.

Shudder to think at the thought of having to replace those three at the expense of a striker that is so badly needed.

Trying to think of the "short term" squad members, shepherd, diabate, Benn, Huntingdon, Evans, Sanderson who will all need a decision making on them

I'd probably keep Evans and Huntingdon.

I know most would release them, but Smallwood does need an understudy, he's getting on and we can't just assume he stays injury free. We've struggled horribly to replace him in the past 18 months, so Evans is in. Huntingdon can also stay because he looks okay to deputize in league competition. I see no real benefit in releasing them given there's not much faith in our ability to replace with better.

The fact we didn't think we needed a CM or CB in the building in the first place kinda speaks volumes.
