I believe we can't draw Rotherham in the next round, as they were in our group.

Only seen the second half but Pattison looked to be doing what everybody thought he could do when we bought him.

Box to box player who was everywhere, running on to through balls and should have chipped in with a goal.

Still convinced if he stays fit he finishes with double figure goals in all comps.

I'm not sure if that is correct, I know the commentator on SkySports+ mentioned it but I can't see any mention of it in the competition rules like there is for the last 32. He also said that the quarter finals were national but they are regionalised.

While there's a lot of love for Walker, Pattison just seems to have more goal threat.

Doyle probably had two saves to make the entire game , one a direct free kick and he fluffed it Their ENTIRE defence and midfield was poor (other than the the last 15 mins) because we made it so with our press,, if wasn’t for their keeper and slightly better finishing we would have had 5 or 6 .
I’m sure we can work out the rest . On stat basis, their keeper was rubbish because their
    “defence” conceded three.

It is a very strange competition rules wise, even though we finished second in our group we could only draw 4 of the other team as opposed to all the other 7 northern group winners.

It made it appear like the rest of the draw was predetermined whereas reading your rules above that suggests it isn't.

I also don't understand why it's regionalised up to the semi final and then free for all (eg: we got Wycombe) when you could just have a northern and southern area final as previously

From 50 ish games? 4 goals we don’t expect but only 4 assists is pretty dire.

Their defence was rubbish, we broke their lines at will. But I see what you are trying to do with the keeper comment, D- for effort. Their keeper was their MOM keeping them in the game.

I think the reason they did the draw the way they did was to make it easier to make sure teams from the same group avoided each other. If they put all 16 teams into 1 draw as seeded an non-seeded they'd have to keep track of all of the balls remaining to make sure they don't end up in deadlock so it would either end up teams skipping into the next tie or have a lot of pots with balls like the Champions League.

They've changed the rules a lot with regionalising the draw/ Last season was the first time since the introduction of the u21 teams that the quarter finals were regionalised, before that it had always been national, even the 3rd round was national for a bit. I can't really see the benefit of the semi final being national as there's a risk of lower crowds and it's not like there's a big think around the draw like we have in the FA Cup as it's normally on at a random time on Sky Sports when people forget about it.

Because it’s not a North v South completion.

Correct but until the semi final it's a north v north, south v south competition, so changing that for the semi final makes little sense

The “ defence” conceding 3 is the benchmark according to you , the keeper is part of the defence is he not ? . It’s so simple to turn simplistic arguments on their head if it’s a flawed argument in the first place!

What benchmark? You keep going in for my posts, I’ve not mentioned their 3 goals. You don’t half talk some rubbish Kev. Have you ever actually read one of your posts back? It’ll be a laugh I promise.

    From a completely different thread:

But then he comes in for more on another thread:

"You wouldn't let it lie!!" to quote the best original comedy duo of the 1990s, Reeves & Mortimer.....but I don't have any scientific facts to back that up....soz!!

    Yes I went Rod

Played well on the whole against some decent players, Patto was outstanding for the second game running and just shows there's a fantastic player there for this level, if he can be kept fit. Pointon played well, as did Kav thank god. Much needed confidence boost for that lad and 2 great finishes, which he deserved with all the pressing he did. Awful mix up between Haliiday & Doyle to let them back into it, fortunately we found that bit extra to win it

I've been to Stockport many times but that was the first time i've had to trek all the way round their stadium to get to our entrance, through a bit of a housing estate and down a dimly lit cycle path. No signs or anything, very poorly organised by Stockport IMO, who were also very badly supported on the evening

Anyway for the second away game running we have been written off by most and ended up playing well, ultimately coming away with something
