His completion rate is 89.4%, so they are going to someone. Second best completion rate for a defender, the best is 89.9% so very similar ball park and is Macari who was the last in the ranking with the second most passes per game at 67.4. In other words, Notts defenders pass it a lot! In fact, 5 of the top 7 pass completers in this division are at Notts County, the other 2 are at Chesterfield, both we play in the coming weeks.

I know but my point was, our defenders used to pass it a lot under Mark Hughes... to each other. 79 passes a game is great, but if 78 of them are to your fellow CBs its not hugely influential on the game. I stress again I'm not knocking Platt - I really like him as a defender, but I think the likes of Baldwin and Shepherd are better ball players. Maybe those 3 together would have been a decent combination.

Diagonal passing wide was Platts trademark ……Into touch 9/10. That’s one reason why it makes him an average L2 defender. It’s swings and roundabouts when it comes to skills for a L2 defender, one takes the rough with finer points of the game . On balance that’s why he was average in my opinion and wasn’t fussed if he remained or not. As it turned out he thought he was better than L2 , unsurprisingly L1 thought otherwise, so he moved sideways for the money, which I can’t blame him whatsoever.

Even the “stats” are on the fence it appears?

Kinda tried answering in my post, but the top two passing defenders in the league are both at Notts and their pass completion is really high, my guess is they pass to each other more often than not. The top 5 of 7 pass completion guys at Notts are 2 CBs, a DM and their wing backs. So my guess is they all pass between each other, ball going to Platt or Macari and wait for the strikeforce to find a gap.

You mentioned science Kev, in your ramblings you seem to be forgetting what you have said. I know exactly how many Notts have conceded, less that us after conceding considerably more last season. Leave it at that yes?

Platt is decent and I would have kept him if possible. Replacements are fine and not what is preventing us getting promoted.

Can we cease and desist now?

They play like Hughes played, I’ve watched several of their games , it’s all across the back three or 5. Anything more than 15 yds forward or diagonal they are generally found wanting if the centre DM doesn’t or can’t come looking. Which is EXACTLY what we saw in PLATT for 70 odd games . Anyone can do that thus making “ stats” appear better than they are. Watch their games is all I can suggest..

He didn’t play for them last year , so why should that be a benchmark as to his ability, what they did as a team before he arrived is utterly meaningless , as opposed to how he actually played for us which we all watched, last season in his 30 odd games . I know exactly what you said ….I still can’t stop giggling .
Barrow fans think he’s a great player, and you think he’s better than what we have because NC have conceded ONE goal less than us against different opposition at different venues IN A SETTLED DEFENCE…Righty Ho…….

Making up comments that people are supposed to have made and yet unable to provide any evidence to support them, isn’t a great look in anyone’s book my friend.

I repeat for clarity, so there is no misunderstanding on your part, my opinion if Platt is an average L2 defender. Not significantly better , no significantly worse than the other of his 80-90 or so centre back colleagues in the division .

Grow up talking about giggling Kev, as others have said it is repetitive and boring. I will leave the last word to you and let you think you're correct if it makes you feel better.

Giggling , belly laugh, chuckle, call it what you will, it was an a weird but extremely funny comparison to make If others have a different opinion on my musings , I don’t mind at all, but be assured if someone says something worth challenging , I will, be of no doubt .
Opinion is one thing and always respected but the reasons given can be challenged, it’s called debate , however making up stories ( I repeatedly called Platt crap) to try and justify your opinion isn’t very clever nor a decent thing to do and tells others and most importantly myself what they need to know, yet you tell me to grow up….really?

If you want to leave it at that then you have a decision to make.

Anybody know if we've appealed Pattison's red card. I would have thought it would have been worth doing so. Judging by the diversity of opinion just on here I wouldn't have thought an appeal could be construed as frivolous.

Our differing opinion is one thing, but I can’t see the FA/EFL overturning the ref…It would send a bad message to all those refs that apply the rules…..Oh hang on…non of them do with consistency.

Could Crew also be charged for surrounding and haranguing the ref? Doesn't help us, just interested

2nd charge of this nature for us this season and 4th in the last 4 years which the panel will take into consideration. I fully expect us to accept the charge as there's no way we can justify not guilty, we got a fine of £2,250 for the charge after the Wimbledon match so probably looking at a minimum of £2,750 fine.

Simon Parker said we didn't appeal it. Realistically we were going to get it overturned as it is similar to the Byrne sending off that there isn't a way to argue the referee was clearly and obviously wrong which you need to do to get it overturned.
