Match Thread Stockport County vs Bradford City Tuesday 10th December 2024

Easy win they didn’t look a threat other than our own balls ups, their keeper kept it respectable. Guessing it’s a second string like but it’s nice to win one, no excuses not to beat Swindon now.

 

Very enjoyable. We played like we should be playing. First to the ball and get it forward.

Only managed to see the second half, and thought they played some good stuff. Pointon, Pattison and Kavanagh standouts for me from what I saw.

I understand Halliday had a nightmare first half, but thought he did well in the second half.

Good pressing from City was the bit I liked best, let's translate that to the league please now

 

It's literally come out of nowhere that performance. Was like watching a different side to the one struggling in the league

 

It will be interesting to see what team we go with on Saturday. For me one of the big reasons why we've look good going forwards tonight and Saturday is the energy of Pattison, if we go for the same formation I don't see a natural replacement for him and not sure if a middle 2 of Smallwood and Evans will work in a game like Saturdays.

Pleasing to see Kavanagh get a couple of goals, really hope that can give him a bit of confidence and we can see the more of the player that ended last season.

 

Credit where due, we were good tonight. Some good interplay and pressing proved that we can play football. Pattison was brilliant. Pointon just as good and involved in most of our attacking moves. Kavanagh's finishing was very good and hopefully that will kick start his season from here.
Hopefully we carry on where we left off tonight on Saturday and get the morale boosting performance we all need!

 

Great game that and what’s most pleasing is the performance followed on from Crewe.

Pattison was superb. He and Evans looked really good alongside each other. Has GA got the nerve to go for the same pairing in a league when both available? When he joined he said if someone plays well they keep the shirt….

 

And some suggesting Cook cant play in a formation that keeps the ball on the deck both cook and Kavanagh looked very good, we should have won by more but fair does to Addai who kept County in the game, we certainly didn't miss our captain in midfield slowing the game down, he did a good job when he came on then he showed his experience slowing the game down, 3 points against Swindon with more players coming back will defiantly make us stronger.

 

Whatever was said after the Barrow game between GA and some senior players it doesn't seem to have done any harm.

 

Enjoyed that, if it wasn't for the Stockport keeper, we should have had 6 or 7 tonight.

 

Was a nailed on win the moment I predicted anything but in the prediction league!

Well that's certainly a great result and for the record Stockport played some of their first team.
Regardless of opposition we won and we are in the draw on Saturday I believe.

I think it would have to be for silly money we couldn't afford to turn down for Cook to leave, but as we know every player has his price.

 

But why Jon, he’s not injured , I can’t get my head round it. For 60 mins tonight he was pretty woeful , as he has been all, season thus far. He’s no chance in front of Benn at the moment.

 

It wasn’t that RT, we had two midfielders playing together in the middle of the park as opposed to Smallwood protecting the defence and one far up midfield . That’s exactly how and why we have the disconnect perhaps?

 

Plenty of food for thought there. Great football, Pattison outstanding, Evans excellent and Kavanagh scores when chances are created for him. And there was something else different but I can't just put my finger on it.

 

So far the other teams through in the northern section are:

• Chesterfield
• Port Vale
• Lincoln
• Rotherham

The other 3 teams will be from

• Wrexham or Crewe (Currently 1-0 Wrexham)
• Bolton or Huddersfield (Currently 1-0 Bolton)
• Blackpool or Aston Villa u21s (tie to be played next week)

The last 16 will be played w/c 13th January so we do have a free Saturday before that as it's FA Cup weekend. If we can draw Wrexham, Bolton or Rotherham they are all out of the FA Cup and have a free weekend so no reason why we can't play it on the Saturday.

 

It’s all to do with owner investment , spend lots of money is the “ vision” you refer Dennis . It impossible to get players in the squad like Norwood without it.
