Flexi/Half Season Tickets (with Poll)

I'm sure there's enough City fans who'll sell you their season ticket for the second half of this season.

 

Understand where we are at?

Vale are top of the league. We are a failing midtable team currently.

So, we would attract more followers.

Now if we win all our league matches until the start of the year then yes I am sure the club would think about such an offer.

 

In fact, I'd be willing to bet there's a few who'll pay you to take it!!

 

Harrogate do them too, always release them from about now in the season. Whilst we have a relative high amount of people willing to buy season tickets, would be financial suicide for the club to even consider. Think about it.

I think @Andyone raises a good point, but the counters are equally valid: we aren't in Port Vale's position, so the need for a half season ticket is drastically reduced for us.

That said, I don't disagree with you. I think it's just a sensible option. A New Year's ticket valid from 1st January each year coincides with Christmas (if anyone, particularly youngsters, have been drawn in through the course of the season), potentially coincides with a future promotion push, etc etc etc.

I think if we normalized the practice of offering a half-season ticket valid from the turn of the year, we wouldn't have to discuss whether it's warranted this season or not - it would just be available.

I'm in favour, for sure. Imagine some of those who did not renew got the itch, or saw there was a possibility of success, or had seen their doubts and worries answered well by the club. I think they should have the chance to get back on board, too.

 

Half Season tickets work when the fans feel there is some kind of promotion bandwagon to jump on, which Port Vale clearly have. At the moment many season ticket holders at VP are starting to see it as a chore to turn up to games in the first instance so there are usually plenty of spare tickets to hand around.

 

Kids for a Quid plus £1.50 booking fee doesn't quite have the same ring to it though.

 

I do believe the have been done in the past but not on a regular seasonal basis.
Had a few beers with Andy Naylor in Blackpool this afternoon he's moved out here but still attends most City games, I'm sure you'll know him from the past I believe he frequented City travel 73 that Patsie run.

 

Yep, used to have long mousey brown hair from memory. Didnt he steward the CTC 73 club that was the original Edwardian Club on Cornwall Terrace ? I could be dreaming on that one though, but yes knew him .

 

Sorry you shouldn't choose when you want to support City, you either do or don't.

You haven't thought this through have you? By your analogy, anyone who doesn't buy a season ticket doesn't support the club. My son is at University, as such its pointless him buying a season ticket, but i've bought him a ticket for the Notts County away game as he still supports the club. And i expect there are a lot of other people who haven't bought a season ticket for reasons that are important to them. Maybe they can't make the games due to illness or location, maybe they don't agree with the current owner and his lack of ambition? But they still are supporters of the club.

 

Yes mate, he comes to all the games he can get to while down here. I guess depending on semantics (i think thats the word) on the wording of fan or supporter. Personally i tend not to distinguish between the two, although i suspect some will. If the original post came with the caveat of the above then i suppose there may be some merit in it. I read the post to suggest that if you don't buy a season ticket you ain't a supporter and i don't agree with that. A lot of fans/supporters move away from Bradford for work/family/quality of life etc meaning games can be hard/impossible to get to.

 

Because circumstances for people are the same forever right.

Someone who may have been unemployed so didn't buy a season ticket in your eyes is still unemployed now. Someone who lived away from Bradford when season tickets were on sales still live away from Bradford now.
Someone who passed on a season ticket because they work shifts/Saturdays etc still work shifts/Saturdays now.

Literally all circumstances for everyone are the same now as they were back when season tickets were on sale is what you are saying isn't it.
