Where have they gained promotion since they were sacked by BCAFC. Hughes hasn’t managed a club since being sacked, so that’s incorrect. Hopkins has resigned from the 3 clubs since he left Bradford City . Adams has resigned from every club he went to after BCAFC bar the one he’s returned to for the second time . Sorry I don’t understand your reply.

 

Think the key point is none of them were anything like they were potentially cracked up to be - and i know our men at the top are a constant throughout this abysmal period. I also accept most of us were excited when Hughes first came in.

But who was generally upbeat when Alexander came in after this lot? We really need to expand our trawling to a wider net but also accept this is easier said than done, particularly with the muppet brigade running the club.

I know its only lip service at this stage but i thought Sharpes interview this week was his best to date and gave me a bit of hope he is finally getting his claws into the problems at the club. We can only cross fingers this is the case

Although we don't seem to do that sort of thing. A few years ago a lad came through the Youth team there and ended up at Wigan. Nothing from City allegedly.

 

Adam Wharton born and raised and played for Blackburn . Now being chased by Man City with a multi £m price tag . Even the best scouting networks miss the lads on the doorstep sometimes.

Our failing is we have Leeds / Hudders to a lesser extent to contend with as attractive destinations.

yeah the Guiseley lad is exactly the sort we should be scouting or trying to get in for a trial

 

Guiseley pick up players who are dropped by bigger clubs academies. They come in at 18/19 and play then move on.

Josh Stones was the one who now plays for Wigan (on loan at Oldham). He will be a player.

Not many have moved to Leeds though.

 

It's tough with us having any next step from the 18s, as our youths either need to be cheap enough to carry at 18/19/20 with a few little local loans for game time under their belt before making a decision, or they need to be ready at 18/19/20 to challenge.

We don't really have the spare budget or facilities to carry a few late teens on a few hundred quid a week in the hope they make it good. We tried it didn't we when Edin came in and signed Patrick, Robinson and 2 or 3 others who weren't ready for that step at the time and probably needed another season in a U21s type situation or needed shipping out on loan for a season at NL level. Instead, we kept them around playing a game every now and again in L1 or the Trophy games, but no kid develops playing once a month.

 

Id prefer someone who has done it at National League level at the very least. Or better yet, League Two.

Sorry, but speculating isn't where we are at. We need players that are proven and have something to give now.

Appreciate our business is shocking but I don't think signing players from the 7th tier is going to help.

 

Agreed. We seem to have a more than decent track record of selling our own youngsters on. What we need in January, is an experienced player, preferably from L1, who can't get the gametime he wants at his club. Someone with a bit of know how, desire to play and can make a difference from the off. Hang about - when I was writing that, it reminded me of Smallwood, Pattison, Huntington, Evans, Sarcevic. Dear God, our transfer business has been appalling.

 

We plucked Wilson from non league and he’s back down there, although I don’t think he’s been given a chance. Maybe GA isn’t the man to get the best out of youngsters.

I thought Compton looked decent to be fair, certainly on a par with the poor squad we had at the time and had a few clubs after us so forged out a reasonable career.

During his time at Valley Parade I'd say he's every right to demand being one of the top earners if not the top earner.

 

I can't understand why Cooks career at Bradford City could be questioned, it will be 4 years in January since his arrival and he's been our leading goal scorer every season during which time, we've lacked any sort of quality with regards a strike partner, then again if your manager is happy for said player to just run around but not nessesarily score goals you can see why we have a problem.
