Fullfilled a lifelong ambition yesterday by attending a Rangers match, and we couldn't have chosen a better game to attend - the display of remembrance both inside & outside of the ground was exceptional and extremely emotional. To say I was proud to be there is an understatement

Meanwhile those scumbags from the other side disrupted the planned silence at Kilmarnock by booing, waving the palestine flag, and singing anti-British songs, meaning the ref blew his whistle barely 9 seconds into the silence. Horrible excuses for human beings, and totally disrespectful. Absolute waste of oxygen

I'd love to take in a game at Rangers or Celtic but the politics of both clubs turns me off.

I know what you mean RT, you can really see how deep it runs with the supporters

Bit of a strange atmosphere during the game really. Last night was Rangers 6th home league game this season, and they have won them all. Yet despite being 1 nil up yesterday, the amount of fans that were booing and shouting at the players when a pass was misplaced for example, and then booing the sub decisions of the manager, was odd to hear. And I thought our fans lost patience quick with the shite that we watch :joy:

One thing is for sure, the game confirmed my belief that the quality of the SPL is equivalent to lower end of the English Championship

Two very strange fan bases up there. Both with unbelievable support but both dragged down not having the ability to move forward. Makes for a fantastic rivalry though, can't beat what is one of the best atmospheres on derby day.

Not anymore RT. Since they banned away fans it's a pale shadow of the experience by all accounts.

There was an entire section of hearts fans in the corner to the left of us. Or do you just mean they’re banned in the old firm derbies?

Just auld firm games Steve. It's been like that for maybe the last 3 seasons in a bit of a tit for tat row. I believe before that though away numbers were extremely limited and only about 1200 were made available at each ground compared to the 9000 - 12000 that used to be available back in the good old days.

While I was there I bought a programme, and I’ve only just got round to reading it. Noticed this little piece about Jimmy Speirs amongst others

    Class that.

Celtic make me sick. The tipping point were their fans mocking Lee Rigby shortly after that terrorist attack on him at a friendly at Arsenal I believe.

Last week I was at a presentation about the Hearts players who died in WW1 by Tom Purdie who has written a book on the subject.
I had met Tom a couple of years when he worked as an SFA safety officer and gave him my copy of Paul Firth's book " 4 minutes to hell".
    .
After last week's talk I told him about Jimmy Speirs.
The coincidence is that Tom now works for Rangers.
