I'd still take him over Oliver.

    Even with a broken ankle.

Surprised someone like Wrexham haven't come in for him. Still a good 3 years left and better than league one.

If he had passed away, i would still select him ahead of Oliver.
How poor was he on Saturday.

Offer him a night in Leeds instead. You don't want to kill the deal before he's even thought about it.

Poor? Nonsense. He did exactly what GA wants the second striker to do, i.e. not score any goals. Not their role apparently.

As soon as Sanderson walloped in a pair of goals early in the season I figures "this kid needs dropping".

No place for that in the team.

I wonder if Sanderson plays in the main striker role at his home club rather than a support role?

I think he did earlier this season when he played instead of Cook (Newcastle??). Looked very good in that role. The thing for me is that all our strikers are just that, not half striker half midfield that Alexander seems to want. None of them can do it. Kavanagh was good when played as a striker but he's useless in this new role.

And of course it begs the question, if that's the type GA wants, why bleedin' sign him in the first place!

That’s where Pattison, Kavanagh , Walker and Wright were supposed to help. Now it seems like the Centre Backs. Who knew?

Think the worry is, the monster has just turned 34 and it catches up to everyone at some stage.

If he gets an injury this weekend, we suddenly go from needing a partner who can bag 8-10 for the season, to us needing to find him plus 20 more.

Plus would there be any harm in a continuation plan? As he is nearly 34 we need a new Cooky at some point

I think that's the big issue here, we need to have ears to the ground and identifying his replacement now ready for next season.

They need to agree on, whether we go like for like and sign a 20+ goals a year man, or whether the style of play dictates we might need to sign two players capable of mid teens in way of goals.

Cook isn't around forever, and it's no good waiting to see how he starts next year because age does catch up quickly and he will be a very different player in 12-15 months time to what he is now.

Given we seem to have a reactive policy when it comes to recruitment this is definitely one we need to be proactive on.

If that means forking out the dough, and ending up with an overlap of the two then so be it, but it needs addressing sooner rather than later given our track record.

It took 8 years and seventeen strikers to replace wells with cook, that can't happen again

The last time we were on Sky, Sharpe did say that we have a transfer target list for the next few windows and the lists alter depending on the division we are in...... so there is potentially a "plan". How good the plans are are another story.

It's not a "plan" as such. We're just scouring injury lists up and down the leagues to see who might want to come and keep all our summer signings company.

Do we have any access to players in Eastern Europe? Some of the players are technically very good and could compliment playing with Smallwood or Evans. Not sure if we look outside the UK or not.
