People keep going on about the Young money, but I am not convinced City got much upfront. If there is any money,it will be tied up in goals, appearances, and sell on fees.

So you think we sold him for peanuts? Not saying you are wrong, but I expect this club to negotiate players release money to the best possible standard. If we are unable to get other clubs to meet our target then we don’t just throw our arms up and say “oh go on then you can have him for nowt” Furthermore we needed to replace him as a permanent member of our squad, and I sure other clubs will not let us have their good strikers for peanuts. If Sparks has done this he ought to be sacked!

It's one more than the combined efforts of Smith, Oliver and Kavanagh this season. I think that's the actual issue and why it gets brought up.

Completely agree and we’ve preformed well in recent weeks. I think recruitment could be smarter with more of a long term outlook though. If we do go up then we’d need a new squad imo.

Come the end of the season and we are up there then fair enough but i amfar from convinced we are only one two injuries away from it going badly wrong.............Cook gets injured then in a nutshell we are screwed or do we simply rely on our central defenders to get us out of the shit ??????
Cook aint gonna fire all season and that should have been known by the powers that be or is it case of hoping that one of our NON prolific strikers starts sçoring ...................

Really? I think he's been hit and miss this year (although I thought he was only pretty average last year to be fair) and he's made a few mistakes now that are costing goals.

I don't expect a flawless performance but it's no good tipping a few wide that you've had to claw out of the corners and then throw one into the net that's straight down your throat.

With a good keeper I honestly think we win that game last night.

Some tend to think that on the back of a few performances its ok now :( its been poor yet again and we are basicslly relying on two players not get injured and im afraid thats not how promotion is won.

Don't knock it. When it comes to running around like a headless chicken, we've got the best in the league.

Not too difficult Dave, I had hopes for him , water under the bridge. With all those you named plus Young…enough was / is, enough.

Recruitment in L2 generally is for the “ moment” ….which is designed purely to get out of L2?
Clubs with pots can do it …we can’t, neither can many more either.

Reading the artilcle in the T&A with Michael Flynn's comments about decisions I think he certainly has a point about their disallowed goal.

It's not a perfect angle at all but it does look like Diabate could be playing Miller onside and it's one we possibly got away with.

Just look at the time and space he had to make the pass in the first place!

And that is why I wanted the club to bring in an experienced, free agent striker in on a short term deal just in case Cook got injured or suffered a loss of form. Maybe even to play alongside Cook.
However, the more knowledgeable on here put their mockers on it.
What the hell do I know, eh?

He's not the best i've ever seen, but in the context of the message I replied to, he's as good as any opposition keeper I have seen in our league

Aside from the Carlisle blooper and maybe could have done better with the goal last night (although did it take a deflection? Hard to see from the opposite end of the ground and I've not yet had chance to see any replays as it was gone 12.30am when I got home haha) then I don't recall him making many other gaffes. I think his command of the area is second to none, his reactions are fantastic (at least 2 point blank reactionary saves last night) and his distribution is good. If he was any better, he wouldn't be in L2? He certainly pisses all over our previous keeper anyway, which isn't difficult I know

In fact, the save he made low to his left in the second half last night, we were convinced it was in. How he got down so quick is testament to the guy

Anyway I thought it was our entire back line you had beef with Northern, not the poor keeper!

he's worrying me a bit tbh, I was flinching at the few long range shots Cheltenham took in the second half. Had Lewis been in net for that goal last night the knives would have firmly been out, and lets not forget the Carlisle howler. Imo we need better going forward, he's average but not terrible.

He is what you need at this level a keeper that will command his area and will make the important saves of he was mistake free he would be at a higher like the majority of keepers at this level ............he aint spectacular but he does the basics right

Every time Oliver walks on to that pitch should be a constant reminder how this recruitment team got it badly wrong they may fall lucky this time but i aint gonna dismiss how badly they have continued to fail.

Disagree, he sometimes does but he wouldn't have let in some of the goals he has if he always did the basics. Some of the goals have been a case of just doing the basics to keep it out.
