How is odsal a "nightmare to get to for home fans"?

If there was parking on the Richard Dunn's site and various exits I'd imagine it'd be miles easier to travel to by car than the current stadium. Low Moor station is probably as close as Forster Square for those using rail and it's on some pretty major bus routes in and out of the City centre.

 

Yeah, you're right. Those extra 15 minutes make it completely unworkable. I'm not sure what I was thinking.

The roads in the city are dreadful , the so called ring road is a joke and with all the streets closing throughout the city centre forcing everyone onto the inner ring road (shipley/ airedale) getting to Odsal top from that side will add a lot to people's journey's and it will only get worse, if the latest plan to close Manningham lane in one direction for a short stretch gets passed. We played at Odsal , i lived in Eccleshill at the time and did not drive getting there by bus was a damn side longer and harder journey than down to VP , which is central to most city fans, not on the outskirts next to the motorway out of the city. Now if the m 606 had been finished as originally planned and ended in city centre and linked to canal road, that would be a different matter.

 

Coming from Bingley, Keighley, Skipton and beyond would be a nightmare getting to odsal. Going by train means a 10 minute walk across town followed by another 20 minutes at the other end. Night games would be a definite no no because of the train times and getting connections.

 

Ah, now we're getting there. It put you out a bit so you've now decided it's bad for everyone, regardless of where they actually live.

It’s quicker to get to Harrogate from Shipley / Thackley / Idle than to Odsal.

Harrogate is about double the distance and probably double the journey time.

No it put out the vast majority of city fans at the time. i was in my prime so probably found it far easier than the more senior generation.
Most buses in the city travel too ,from and through the city centre and Broadway for parking is about a 20 minute walk to VP 18 mins to Forster square station
There are many bars and eatery's in the area. Not a great deal in the Odsal area, other than a few pubs a dunkin donut and a coffee outlet. Many fans make more of a day of it than just the match.
We have a 25000 seater stadium to use, yes we currently do not own it and it requires some upkeep, but not the amounts needed to purchase the land and build a new stadium.
Unfortunately the city of Bradford is overlooked for any real investment, private or public ,cycle and footpath's will not bring in anything. The interchange is a perfect example.
So no , i have not made a decision for everyone, i have looked at the facts and made what i believe is a balanced judgement and just my opinion based on those facts.
On another note 20 years rent at £10000 per week is £10.4 million. could we build a new stadium for that?
A £30 million commercial loan at say 10% per annum £3 million a year alone in interest.

Its an extra 16 minute walk from Low moor to Odsal compared with Foster sq to VP
30 mins onto your match day, if you do not count any time getting off at Foster square and maybe having to walk to the interchange and wait for a train to low moor, or do they go direct to Low moor from The shipley end of Bradford, i thought it was just a branch line that ends in Bradford and goes to Leeds/ Bingley and beyond from Shipley.

That’s undeniable , however I’m trying to save the club money, not pizz more up the wall on short term , high cost leases . That IS the road to ruin if the owner pulls the plug.
