The whole Community Asset thing was intended so that WE as fans know if there is a plan to sell the ground, a formal process that WE know about. The T&A knew about it for months but only posted it later as if it was a 'reason' for Rupp not to progress......leave you to make up your own mind about that!!

Aren't Carlisle just taking the Edin method of splashing cash on absolute garbage and hoping it will all just work rather than listening to people who know what they are doing? I doubt Carlisle will go down but at the moment they seem to have an owner knows best attitude of just throwing money around for absolute dross.

I really liked Harry Lewis, he was probably as important as Cook was when we made the play off for gaining points we would otherwise have lost, but in hindsight we robbed Carlisle blind with that transfer and have a steady pair of hands how has really made the position his own.

We need new ownership because just keeping the lights on and false promises isn't going to progress the club. But it's all about who you have in charge of the 'new money'. Carlisle have blown £5m quid, but they have Greg Abbott as the DOF/HOR, how he has been given another shot at a role like that, I have no idea. But the Carlisle setup is all wrong for success, just spending money on guys who had flashes was the Edin approach and look where that ended?

Oh god. Didn’t know Abbott was the DOF there.

i still don't understand why they bought that club, given the limitations it has.

whoever sold the dream to them, can we have you as a broker, please!

Abbott must have the patter because his record is every role since he stopped playing had been woeful.

How he continues to get gigs in professional football absolutely baffles me and it's not even as if he has a speciality that he's working on or experienced in. He'll literally swap and change to take on anything with a position going.

They haven’t got it right immediately at Carlisle but it’s not without trying. They aren’t an example of “bad” ownership for me. 6 years in League 2 and constantly failing in hiring competent managers and appalling transfer windows are an example of bad ownership.
We’ve had a couple of good results against dire opposition. Dont lose sight of the fact that Rupp and co are under achieving.

Aye. I had a quick browse earlier. He was at Solihull Moors as head of recruitment for about a year prior to being headhunted when Paul Simpson assembled his team at Carlisle.

Simpson said at the time he wanted a manager who knew the lower divisions and what Carlisle was all about.

Abbott was relatively successful in his time there as boss i think, so it seems like he still has credit in the bank there for winning LDV vans and finishing in playoffs.

His record here as HOC was woeful, but wonder if he used the ‘Edin was a madman’ card to get a free pass to explain his shortcomings here?

Shall we list out the staff at Bradford that have had shortcomings since Rupp became owner? It’s in double figures.

What does that have to do with Greg Abbott and the Carlisle ownership?

If you've got something to say, just say it. As the saying goes, either take a sh!t or get off the pot.

Think the rot at the club is too deep and would take considerable amounts to fix just to stand still in championship.

Year upon year top clubs are dropping into league 1 from the championship. More US owners will filter into the divisions due to the Wrexham effect. We will not be able to compete in league 1 (think we will continue to struggle to get out of league 2 if am honest)

His penchant for spotting “players” isn’t too good either? Wasn’t he the manager who released Nahki as being lightweight and would never make a pro footballer. .?

    I’m sure it was Gregg?

Again another example of why we won’t ever account for much - just listened to the Sparks BBC interview and the ground purchase was referenced it’s not happening at all judging by his answers. It’s telling how he references the extension as opposed to out right purchase which was the message from Stefan.

He had all our pants down with the statement and the backtracking has begun.

He may have had your trousers down but not everyone’s . I’ll listen myself because we have heard these “ interpretations “ of interviews before . Not really sure why it’s a shock if it’s true tbh?

It would have to be a massive offer for Gibb to sell, I can't see many positives regarding selling a massive asset to the Flamingo Land Pension Fund with regards the laws around pension funds after the Robert Maxwell fiasco back in the late 60s ?

What are we selling to the pension fund? They already own the ground and I can't imagine they want saddling with a potentially loss making football club.

I have said it before and again, he’d be nuts to sell. Why would he sell with a gauranteed income year on year. The only chance we have is better terms and conditions , lower we are in the EFL , the lesser amount we pay, rather than on a graduated scale of time?
Even then Dave he’d still be nuts to sell or agree to that proposal . Even if BCAfC go bust he still has the asset and if we don’t he’s still got income . He’s on a win win.
