Cook scores goals but tactically he’s a nightmare because from a tactical point of view he doesn’t fit in.

Due to him scoring he is undroppable and the manager is now scared. However, might need to grow a pair and thing about the style of play and what’s best for the TEAM for us to move forward.

    Cook is a difficult one.

Any team can accommodate a goalscorer.

To a certain extent its about getting the ball to the goalscorer. But that doesn't mean you try to do it as quickly as possible, it's better to have the whole team in the opposition half than just a goalscorer + A.N. Other.

At worst, Cook is a distraction for a key defender. At best, he's putting the ball in the net. Either way you need to take advantage of the fact you have one of the best forwards in the division.

First name on the teamsheet for me.

You have had it in for Cook for about 3 seasons now, and he keeps proving you wrong.

The amount of goals he gets each season with limited service is incredible.

Would love to know who you would select up front then to score us goals.

We would probably be non league now but for Cook

Cook is one of the few players who we can rely on to do his job 6 goals already this season, difficult one ?.
It would be a brave manager who dropped the one player who has carried this club since he signed form Mansfield, how do you come to the conclusion tactically he's a nightmare, I'd suggest there are 23 League Two manager who would love to have that tactical nightmare as their number one striker, our nightmare is the fact that we don't have players around him to create chances for him hence the goal he scored against Harrogate, as he has done several times in previous seasons winning the ball from defenders and going on to score an individual goal..

Oh maybe we should’ve built a team around him.

That would include a team with pace and decent wingers.

    Even a 4 2 3 1 should probably have width.

But we'd signed to a 5 3 2 which we've never played before, and the next manager won't fancy either, oh its brilliant fun watching Sparks mess up in the same manner OVER AND OVER AND OVER

I don't think @Fordy117@Fordy117 is alone in thinking about the Cook dilemma. A number of supporters around me are constantly berating him all match, then he pops one in and they're scratching their heads. If you look at Liverpool as an example, they shifted two top scorers (Suarez and Torres), but found a way to replace them. We have a problem in that the manager talks about goals from elsewhere but the mentality of the players is to give it to Cook or face his wrath.

'I love scoring goals for this football club'. Maybe if his teammates had the same hunger and desire we'd see them putting the ball in the back of the net more often.

Just a question. Why after 3 years and 3 managers do we have the same problems with numerous attacking players who have gone through this club? Again, you’d be mad to leave Cook out, but I’m convinced that our lack of contribution from other players is due to not being able to hold the ball up at the top end of the pitch. Nothing sticks unfortunately and until we find that striker to work with him, I fear we’ll always only have one main goal scorer.

As my mate Columbo used to say? And another thing,,,, When we get ex players they kill us... when Pattison went back he was not very good......Does he really need any motivation to play against them?

I rate him as a player also... in a answers to Fordy's dilemma wingers ..would double Cooks tally..

I agree with regards Pattison, last Saturday he was not alone in offering little first half but I thought he would be out to show his past team mates and club what they were missing sadly he didn't.

Yes, if anyone should have been up for it you'd have thought it would be him, especially as he's had to wait a long time to play against them. I wonder if the reason he was hauled off at half time was because he wasn't doing what he'd been asked to do. Diabete mentioned in his interview with Raynor yesterday that they were given a plan and a script before the game but they didn't stick to it.

Imagine if you worked in manufacturing and your gaffer gave you a schedule of work to follow to hit your daily targets and you said let's try this way and failed miserably, you'd be on a warning, seems footballers train all week playing a certain way come Saturday they sack it, isn't the Captain the man who takes the responsibility of manager on the pitch.

That is an absolutely brilliant summary of what’s happened here since Rupp took ownership of the club.
