Think you can make it four seeing as Shepherd could barely walk let alone run in the second half on Saturday, I’ll be amazed if he’s fit this week.
But……they’re not the cause of how we fail to test the opposition keeper week in week out or are always second to the ball, out muscled, losing 50/50s.
I don’t think it’s time to change by any stretch but I am starting to wonder why we’re not getting a tune out of what I think is a very decent squad

Fair play for your honesty, Dennis.

May I ask, if you don't mind, as you tend to articulate well on here, what exactly was it that convinced you this time around after years of absolute contempt for the club.

The way football is going unless we get an owner with ambition I think League One will be the best we can achieve under Rupp, as we've seen with the likes of Wrexham & Stockport you have to throw a few bob at the team and I think most realise sadly that ain't gonna happen with Rupp at the helm.

If someone worked at Morrisons on the checkouts for a few years it doesn't give them the ability to manage the store.

He came is with absolutely no experience, there is literally nothing to suggest he can do the job and we've gone backwards as a result.

I am not interviewing for the role of CEO at Bradford City, however I would guarantee we have fans from backgrounds who would do a far better job than he has.

Sparks was the cheap option, picked by Rhodes Junior who couldn't be bothered looking beyond the his four walls for someone to take over, and on the back of the damage that Edin did, we needed someone to come in who knew what they were doing, not someone to learn the ropes. There are literally thousands if not tens of thousands of better candidates than Ryan Sparks for the CEO job.

Speaking with @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart last night and we both agreed lose to Morecambe Tuesday night and we'll be lucky to get 10,000 in attendance especially if the weather is bad and as you say the game being live on Sky.

It's gonna take something to persuade me to come down to VP on a Monday night at the moment. Feels like a chore rather than entertainment .

Lim's problem is he is lacking "football people" to run the club!
Joking apart, as I think you are inferring, having money and "football people" (ish) still doesn't guarantee success.

That's a fair question. I've been critical of the way our club has been managed for several seasons now although it it deteriorated imo when Sparks was handed the CEO job. A guy who may well have been experienced in communication skills or managing a Twitter account but had zilch experience in business leaderwship or as a CEO of a small company in a difficult sector wouldn't be my ideal candidate! That's me speaking not just as a fan but as a management consultant who has many years experience in one of the top 4 global professional services firms specialising in advising companies on project and corporate finance. I understand fully what skills and attributes a good CEO should possess for abusiness to be successful! It's made worse in our situation where the sole owner of the business has little if any experience in this particular sector, has no empathy with the culture of the business or its fan base and is geographically detached from the day-to-day running of the club.

Against that background, why did I have such a change of heart? Part of it was a typical fans' reaction. We are optimistic by our very nature. We expect things to go well even when recent history suggests otherwise. I was personally on the verge of not purchasing my season ticket for the coming season. There are 6 of us who come to VP to watch the game and support our club. None of us live close to the club; the nearest lives north of Pateley Bridge and the rest of us live further away. To give an example one of the group lives on the west side of Chester almost on the Welsh border. Towards the end of last season, three of us had told the others that we were thinking about giving up our STs for the coming season. And then things changed and that change was brought about fundamentally by Rupp's open letter pledging to do all sorts of things to improve the club.

Surely we thought having signed that letter and made such a public fuss about it, Rupp wouldn't dare not deliver on his pledges. We know full well that he didn't write the letter - that was probably the creation of his right hand man - but it was published in Rupp's name and he signed it. In our minds, it committed the club's owner to improving things on the pitch by ensuring we had the funds - provided from his own pocket or by others - to compete with other clubs at the top end of our division. We genuinely believed that he would do that and it was reinforced in our minds by the arrival of David Sharpe who had lots of experience as a CEO of a bigger club who would put his own stamp on the running of our club. It would only be a matter of time before things improved, or so I and the others thought.

Unfortunately, other than Sharpe's appointment, little else has happened. I've said this elsewhere on here that I believe our squad to be a good one .... when everybody is fit and available but is overly reliant on a handful of key players playing to their full potential. I also said just after the transfer window closed that despite the potential of the squad, it wasn't capable of an automatic promotion spot because there will be injuries and off-days in a contact sport in the khazi league coupled with a poor recovery based on the past few seasons. Since then, nothing I've seen has changed my mind and I am already anticipating yet another season in the khazi.

That's why I currently feel let down by the leadership at our club. I don't feel any anymosity or contempt towards the club itself but I do hold some of the key individuals in contempt. We have an owner who continues to be interested in the club simply ticking over despite what he said in his letter; a CEO who is imo incompetent and out of his depth and who has appointed a couple of people into important roles for which they are unsuited; and a first team manager who I believe has what it takes at this this level but appears to have his hands tied by his bosses and those around him and the playing budget he's been provided with.

I've no idea whether my views are widely shared or whether I've simply got things wrong. I'd love to say that this season will improve and next season we'll be lauding it in Div 1 but at this stage I don't know how that will happen.

Apologies @bantamlad92@bantamlad92 for such a long response to your question .. but I now feel better for getting it all down! :)

Peter Lim sold up his shares in Salford in August and has nothing to do with the club now I believe. Gary Neville is the main shareholder now.

The dreaded “c” word raises its head and we are still in September.
My wife has stuff she does on a Monday and she definitely won’t be changing her plans.
The thought of a journey from HD6 to BD8 by myself doesn’t fill me with joy and if tomorrow turns out like some think it will (I think we’ll get something ) then the sky remote will be by my choice at 8pm on Monday.

Recently watched class of 92 on sky, ok so Alexander squeezed Salford into the league via the playoffs with a full time squad, some on 4k a week playing in a league of part timers.

Lucetti comes across as a passive sock puppet.

Seems like a carbon copy of here in many ways - under performing. Sacked because they wanted a 'different style of play' and something a bit more 'gung ho'.

Sounds exactly like what we are being served up here - turgid dross despite having some ok footballers in the squad.
Sparks has done what he is good at and backed the wrong horse again.

    Spot on Dennis.

I've posted on here that I took part in the protests, that I sent in questions to the Radio L***s forum and that I emailed the club and Ryan with my views (still not had a response by the way!).

I count myself as one of the gullible fans now also, my rationale being exactly the same as Dennis. The open letter, the forum, the interviews, the appearance, the appointment of Sharpe all seemed to point in the right direction but I feel sadly let down. Hand on heart I just don't see an improvement, an improvement on last year or an improvement on Hughes. The same old problems are occurring and recurring ad nauseum....

I am not well, so I have a valid excuse but even if I wasn’t ill I would not be going. Unfortunately, we will be paying for a ticket we won’t be using anytime soon.

Very much my own thoughts Dennis. Although I don’t have your experience in business i do understand you need experience to be able to see the choppy waters ahead. I am angry at the management team and the deception but tbh it was a nagging feeling that we maybe wasting our money yet again.

    A top post Dennis.

The only thing I disagree with you is thinking that GA is the right man at the helm if he had the right backing. I didn't particularly support his appointment at the time, it seemed a panic appointment because everyone, including Kevin McDonald were turning us down.

I would much prefer a younger up and coming coach/manager in charge to be honest. A Steven Schumacher type springs to mind.

Did you find a compromise way to get to VP, with bus/parking/travel time. I recall I made some suggestions about the Avondale/Frizinghall area offering some scope.
I will miss the next home game, as I will be away. Having it on a Monday, offers less attractions than a Tuesday!
Hope you are on the road to recovery!
