Good move for him and a step up from the u19s. Realistically he's 6th choice striker so won't get any game time with us at the moment. A good chance to get some first team minutes and get himself a longer loan move until the New Year then judge it again then.

 

According to yesterday's presser, GA is looking at bringing a free agent in. Could be someone who is currently training with the PFA squad

 

I think it's more a case of he hasn't ruled it out rather than actively looking to do it at this stage.

 

Maybe the T&A headline is a bit misleading then.

 

Little bit. GA makes out that they have been monitoring a free agent who is on trial at another club. Looking at the CBs who were mentioned a week or so ago. Cant find anything on Anthony Stewart, but GA did sign him 12 months ago for MK, so he might visit him again? TJ Eyoma was apparently on trial at Reading at the start of the month but nothing for a few weeks on him.

There was a CB in Charles Dunne who was on trial at St Mirren, Dunne actually played under GA at Motherwell but yesterday evening he signed a short-term deal at St Mirren. Given the interview had taken place yesterday before the signing happened, I wonder if Dunne might have been the man he was tracking? He is a left sided CB. Also Mark Beevers has apparently moved back to England after playing in Aus for a few years and is looking for a club. He's 34 now, but as cover he might tick a box.

Another CB is Tom Clayton, he was at Swindon until last season. He played a lot his first season there but had only one start last season in a campaign plagued with injury. Again, not thrilling but if it's just to plug a gap until Kelly is back.

 

Williamson officially gone to Carlisle. They've paid the £200k compo fee on his contract.... £200k for a bloke who was on the verge of the sack! The yanks that bought them really are happy just pissing money away aren't they?

 

He's a good manager though. 6 games into a season is not enough time.

Similar to us with regards Mark Hughes, the expectations most have been so high new owners providing funds to improve the squad yet a poor start to the season.

 

Carlisle already play a sort of similar tactic, apart from the front 3. MK setup with two 10 and a striker, which worked best with Dean who was a bit of a worker, bit of pace and can finish. Not worked at all with the unit Hendry.

Going to be fun watching Wyke try and fill that role. He looked like he could barely move at our place and needed the work doing for him.

 

What are your thoughts on Ridehlagh signing for Guiseley? You championed him a few times last season as a solid pro and someone we should have kept around.

Personally I could see it a mile off last season. Simply wasnt good enough and the 7th tier is his level.

 

It was comments about a manager who had a good season that led to Carlisle looking at him as their new manager. Lets face it they've been a better run than we have over the last 20 years.

Walsall have signed Rico Browne, young CB after a trial period. Wonder if he was the one we were tracking?

If Byrne and Baldwin are back within 2 weeks, I wouldn't bother signing another. But if Kelly is out for a while then maybe.

 

Probably wouldn't have fronted the cash

 

I agree if its only two weeks but as we've seen before two weeks then turns into three and so on, I wouldn't be going down the road of a replacement or two, as has been said after the second half at Walsall and the game against Mansfield a couple of games with 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 will see us through without more expense of course IMO.

 

Mark Beevers drove my daughter and her boyfriend to Manchester airport in the summer - apparently his dad owns a airport transfer business and he was helping out. He sounded optimistic of a contract with a northern english club at the time they spoke to him.
