    You’ve got to laugh (or you’d cry). We’ve spent 18 months specifically building a squad for a 3 at the back system and never really looked at ease, then the one time we’re forced to play with a 4 we look more comfortable than we have for yonks, and with a changed side against higher league opposition.

    The movement from back to front is so much smoother. Smallwood isn't isolated anywhere near as much and we have bodies in the middle.

    This game reminds me of playing Derby away last season in this comp. Playing a team in a league higher and looking quite comfortable. Seemingly it looks like we may be able to play a bit when the pressure is off!

    At this level football is a very simple game, yet MH last season and GA this have gone out of their way to over complicate with basic League 2 players.
    Hopefully GA will see sense now and bin the wingbacks but I won't hold my breath

    We could play a fluid 442 like this, with a box midfield. Any of Pointon, Pattison, Walker, Adams can play in the wider midfield roles. Or Wright and Odour for that matter. Would love to see us try it for a few games and see what happens.

    Probably the best ref we've had so far this season. He's done well, tried to keep the game flowing and kept his cards in his pocket.

    I also think that defensively the players look more comfortable, knowing when to cover etc. Albeit this isn't a full-blooded L2 game.

    He's done well. Good energy and harassing their defence/midfield when the ball drops around the penalty box.

    Similar situation with Hughes last season. Spent all pre-season preparing for a wingback system, realised it wasn’t working and then signed an influx of wingers towards the end of the transfer window who simply weren’t good enough. It doesn’t matter what changes are made behind the scenes, we always find some way of fecking our summer recuitment up.
